Kapo set to miss season start

Olivier Kapo looks certain to miss the start of the new season after tests revealed that the French midfielder had strained the anterior ligaments in his knee after landing awkwardly during Monday's friendly draw against German Bundeslige side Hannover 96 in Austria.

FC Timisoara 2 Wigan Athletic 0

Roberto Martinez is still looking for his first win as Wigan Athletic manager after his new side went down to their third pres-season defeat this time at the hands of Romanian Champions League qualifiers FC Timisora. Wigan now face Bulgarian side PFC Minyor before flying home ahead of away trips to Preston and Norwich.

Two stands renamed at the DW Stadium

The JJB Stadium's renaming has also heralded the renaming of two of the grounds stands with Wigan Athletic and chairman Dave Whelan taking note of the voice of his club's fans for the new title of the West Stand.

Martinez Exits JJB - A Look Back To June 2001

Windass I think it says a lot that in the last two games that he hasn't been on the scene we seem to have found our team spirit again. Just my imagination? Let's see after the next few games!

Windass Agree he is Naff but would have played him in attacking mid ahead of Lowe Massey Jacobs Roberts Williams or Dowell but Cooks the boss and a lot goes on that fans and supporters dont hear about.

Windass If sheff wed ban him from taking set pieces, penalties and tell him dont go one on one against the keeper just run around and wave your arms then he will fit in. Above his level in the championship I'd of sold him for 500K.
