Any one remember this structure being on the shevvy end. It is on a rugby league grounds past and present site.

I started going to Latins matches around 1965/6 but I don't remember seeing the Shevvy end like that.

It was when Springfield Borough were playing there, don't remember it either, don't think it's Springfield Park to be honest.

It was added to the existing shack at the top in the early seventies. It was going to go along the entire width of the end.
It was sold for scrap to help with running costs.
Horwich Wanderers should learn from this and a ready made programme on 4 or 5 about life in a Bolton scrap yard could give them further revenue as dismantling takes place.

Not at all. Long before Springfield played there.
It is Springfield Park.

Cheers Garswood, thought it was older when Springfield played there, still a new one on me.

Two things I remember about that end:

1. My dad took my younger brother with me once when he was about 9. He dug a hole in the ground and proudly sat in it. He's never been to a football game since.

2. March 1988. I was there (not sliding) - If I remember correctly, Mr Ricketts was with me that day.

Last Edit: 4 months 1 week ago by muttywhitedog.

If it had remained in situ, this Comedy Gold moment may never have happened!

I don't remember that very strange looking cover - it looks completely out of place. Like someone was moving a structure from A to B and stopped for a tea break.

The club were in dire straits and did indeed sell it for scrap to help pay the players wages. Anyone who hasn't read The road from Wigan Pier should get a copy. Its a brilliant read and tells the clubs history.
One life One love One Wigan Athletic

We actually made a profit on the steel. Has Anderson moved the cranes in yet?
