Wigan Athletic has seen different fortunes for three keepers. With Chris Kirkland not flying to the Swedish training camp we loan a rivals keeper whilst our Youth Team stopper makes the grade for England.

Chris Kirkland has suffered yet another setback which will rule him out for most of the preseason campaign. The problem area is yet again his back and so it is touch and go whether the ex-England International will be ready for the new season.

Lee Nicholls on the other hand was chuffed to get the nod to be in the original England squad to go to the European U19’s Championships in France. He has today learned that he has actually made the final cut and could well be in with a decent shout of starting in our bid for the crown. We wish lee all the best in the Tournament.

As cover for Chris Kirkland, Roberto Martinez has drafted Bolton Keeper Ali Ab Habsi in on loan for the season. The Oman International has had few opportunities to shine with the Trotters but when he has played he has done very well for them and we hope he does the same here.
