He’s floundering badly now and his inane ramblings are symptomatic of his current performance as a manager. I’m tired of people intimating (as he now seems to be) that we are damn lucky to be rubbing shoulders with the huge clubs in this Division (many of whom we have been outperforming for much of the last 15 or 20 years.). If that’s what he truly believes then he needs to be somewhere else.
Is our budget that much smaller (or indeed any smaller) than those of Brentford or Preston, Hull City or even Charlton or Birmingham currently ?

I haven’t wanted to see him out up to the last month or so but I genuinely think he’s done now...

We know how ‘big’ Leeds Utd, Nottingham Forest , Sheffield Wed and the like are , or potentially are ...but slow steady, relatively inexpensive recruitment allied to shrewd management have allowed both PNE and Brentford gradual progress through this ‘Land of the Giants’ and That’s all I hope for, not steamrolling the opposition.

If he turns it round I’d genuinely be pleased for him, as well as myself and the club...... but it’s all starting to look beyond him

I've said plenty of times on here and FB that personally I think we will need to survive by hook or by crook for 3 maybe 4 years gradually adding to the squad before we can think of taking the next step and challenging.

Warnock is not for me, lots of moaning on here about the style of play recently under cook, I.e. long ball up to Moore, that would only get worse with Warnock. The flipside of that is he would probably bring an upturn in results. Change due but i dont think it will happen. Big Sam anyone? Not me. Not a clue who I would want to be honest but I do think that sometimes you have to change things to get an improvement and that time is now for me.

Sam thinks he has one last big job before he goes back to Noblot. Doubt Colin Wanker would look on us as a good project and as for us bringing in an ex tic, with the Royles + Reidy it's more likely he will have an Everton past. All is hypothetical as Cookie seems fireproof.

Personally, as much as I like him I can see why he would get the sack but with the squad and resources we have I still don't see how we will do much better. 1 or 2 away wins maybe but anything outside the bottom 6 clubs would be overachieving I think.

That's my point Brownbill. Everyone saying Cook is out of his depth, taken us as far as he can etc is unable to name a single viable option. Not even a crap option like Nathan Jones. Nobody. Apart from pie in the sky names like Warnock, Hughes, Hughton.

The last two times we have sacked a manager at this level we have appointed a sexist racist (cheap) who had a decent record before us and a youth team coach. In the same way we have to take gambles with players we have to take them with managers as well and I don't see anyone out there currently. It's not as though we're an Aston Villa who went and got Dean Smith to take them up. We would either go to a League One manager or an assistant with no experience.

As for players we brought in, personally I think Lowe is crap, Moore needs someone playing off him, Williams and MacLeod are good players and Mulgrew should be our nailed on captain. Are any of the players we signed better than Powell or James in their respective positions who were our best players? Are they fuck.

It's the cost of the respective squads. Bar the odd one or two it isn't usually too far adrift from the actual league table.

PNE have built a good little squad after a few years in this league and is exactly what we should be aiming to do.
