The job of hiring and firing belongs to the powers above, all's I know is, if we carry on with Cook we are going down for sure.
Too many players are playing well below par and playing Cooks way which is a negative type of football

Plus

It's boring as fcuk

"What we can afford" should not factor into the decision to fire Cook. If the board/or fans think we ned a new manager, action needs to be taken - Cook's salary is a sunk cost. If Cook is retained, it had better be because the board thinks these are the best results anyone can get out of this group of players and they are OK with going down to League one.

I'm of the opinion that a change needs to be made. If funds are limited in brining in a new manager, then the board should take a flier on a new/first time manager. That's probably what Wigan needs to do in order to be successful/punch above our weight anyway - to think outside the box/be on the cutting edge and take chances - Not go after "safe"/retread choices.

Well whoopee fookin doo what a brilliant piece of securing relegation that is. Cook couldn't manage a jump in a brothel so let's all rejoice. In 50 years watching this amazing club this has to be the worse offensive side ever witnessed by Latics fans.

Provided we continue with our average of 0.88 goals a game we will average 40 goals. That's the same as the last time we were relegated and more than the first time. It's 3 less than our relegation in 1993 against much better opposition. Bad yes. Worst ever? Subject to opinion.

Yes it is painful to watch as was the Joyce era. IMO the Joyce era was worse, whilst the Mackay era was more frustrating as we actually had a good side on paper. Our lack of bite reminds me of that season. Hammer a side and lose 2 and 3 nil to 2 and 3 shots

They'll come to a point when they'll have to due to poor crowds and people speaking with their feet.
Then theres,
League One football will be worse with far less travelling fans.
It's a business it's not based on fans opinion. No fans and relegation means far less income.
You really need use some smelling salts and wake up and stop fckin dreaming that everything's fine, its not

If they truly believe that Cook is the man they want to be in charge of the club and grow the academy then similar to Dario Gradi at Crewe, he won't go anywhere regardless of what division we're in and how many fans turn their back.

Whether that is the right or wrong call, only time will tell.

There are just under 8,000 Season Ticket holders, and as the home support has constantly hovered around the 8300 mark all season, we are only talking about losing 300 or so casual attendees - not enough to see the owners sit up and take notice.

Think you may find that 8000 severely reduced next season if Cooks still here.

A football club is for life not just for certain managers/players.

Not the same ring to it as dog for christmas, but you get the idea.

8000 ST at an average of £200 brings in £1.6m.
6000 ST at an average of £200 brings in £1.2m.

I'm guessing that the owners have relegation clauses in place (usually around 40%), and that wages go down if the side goes down. It may well be that the owners are looking at the income needed to be a 4th bottom Championship side versus the income needed to be a top-6 league one side, and have come to the conclusion that the amount they have to subsidise the club to be 4th bottom isn't worth their while, and they'd get better value for their HK$ by owning a top L1 side.

Its also a possibility that sacking Cook after relegation means his payout is 40% less.

I think we will get better crowds next year if we are relegated. This board is living proof that a winning team is easy to support. One thing that shines on PC's CV is his ability to get his team out of league one.

What we would then need actually is a proven manager at L1 level.
And we have him. No need to pay anything out.

Thanks to The Brexit referendum the Hong Kong dollar is now 20% more valuable v the pound, meaning that their investment in the team goes 20% further than it would have gone back then. I have just found my first benefit to Brexit, which I am delighted to find given I work in international sales and the past couple of years have been a nightmare and it continues to be as a result. Bit of politics for you gents. Imagine where we would be with 20% less investment!!

no point changing anything now.
Same bunch of ‘strikers ‘ and slow paced midfielders And more importantly the same board of directors.
The record is firmly stuck , wish I could be more positive.
I exclude all the under 18s from the above ( they will be very important next year )

Perhaps (& I'll get my tin hat ready for this),the board are quietly preparing for League 1 again. In Cook they have a proven manager at that level, plus most of the team are better suited to that level also. The youngsters will get more of a run out in League 1, & if folk are saying they are as good as they are, we might end up ripping League 1 again.

I, personally am not saying that I want League 1 football again. I dont! But sometimes, one has to take a step backwards in order to take two forward.

Now! Where is my tin hat??

There seems to be this weird view that Cook is the man when we go back into league 1. He did win it but he had a whole bunch of players who had played at championship level. He did not win it with a squad he had fashioned so why is everybody convinced he knows what he is doing. If Cook is here next season we are fooked.
