Wigan Athletic will take on Spanish outfit Real Mallorca at the DW Stadium on Sunday August 5 with a 4.00pm kick off in their traditional home pre-season friendly match, it was confirmed today.

The match will be Latics’ fifth of the pre-season period, currently boasting an unbeaten record following a win and two draws out in Austria last week, prior to their trip to Celta Vigo on Sunday August 12.

Mallorca, coached by Joaquin Caparros, finished in 8th position in last season’s La Liga just three points outside of a Europa League qualification place, and reached the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey.

Roberto Martinez said:

“Mallorca will represent a really good test as they are on the back of a tremendous second half to the season finishing eighth in La Liga, and (Joaquin) Caparros has developed a really strong side to play against and a very talented team with an exciting future.

“Their defensive record is very impressive and they are a very well balanced group which will present the perfect exercise for both teams in this pre-season.”

Entrance to the game is payable on the gate with Adult tickets priced at £10.00 and concessions £5.00, with only the Springfield/West Stand being opened
