Hamilton ace James McCarthy has asked both Wolves and Wigan to give him time making his decision, but insiders have said he is close to choosing before the week is out.
Roberto Martinez is being forced to monitor the situation with James McCarthy from Latics’ training camp in Austria, even though the young Scottish starlet is undergoing a medical at the DW Stadium today.
Bobby is said to be very excited about the prospect of “the best young player in Scotland” playing at Wigan next term. His home club Hamilton, accepted offers from both Wolves and Latics last Thursday of around £1.5 million, but the player asked for time to think.
As he hadn’t then had a medical, the signs are looking good for Latics as he turned up to take one this morning, planting the seed that Wolves could well have lost their man.
Why not sign for Wolves straight off after he took his medical there last week, rather than think for a weekend and make the trip to Wigan on Monday?
We might be reading too much into it but it is a strange one if he doesn’t sign for us…
