Well the first pre-season friendlies have been announced and Wigan Athletic will be going on a pre-season European tour, maybe so the fans can get some practice in.

The Club have announced that we will be playing Morecambe and Oldham before heading off to Germany to play a couple of matches.

This could whet the appetite for the fans that will be travelling to see Latics play in the Europa league in September to December.

We will more than likely play our first game of the Championship away from home and with the Community Shield on August 11th it could be the 17th before we taste our first home game.

The Club statement reads:

On Saturday July 13, Latics will travel to the Globe Arena for the first time to face Morecambe. Kick off 2.00pm.

On Saturday July 20, Latics will play Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park, with a 3.00pm kick off.

The team will then travel to the Hanover region of Germany for a week long training camp from July 21, where they will play two matches. Dates and venues to be confirmed nearer the time.

The Football League Championship programme will start on August 3rd with Latics then taking part in the Community Shield at Wembley against Manchester United at Wembley on August 11th.

Any other matches will be announced as soon as news is confirmed.
