Latics and Bobby will be hoping to put on a good performance at Goodison this weekend to try and put the last ten days behind them…..

The last ten days have seen us narrowly lose against relegation hopefuls Wolves, have Man United flatteringly beat us 5-0 and go out of the Carling Cup 4-1 to an absolutely dismal display at Bloomfield Road against Blackpool.

The Laics fans on the forum of course are now baying for blood as we are suddenly relegation favourites and maybe rightly so. But how short are the memories of most when only 2 weeks ago we showed Aston Villa how football should be played (and to an extent Manchester United in the first half).

Bobby has already been ‘quoted’ as saying he would swap points for a decent performance against Everton, but I wonder what David Moyes must be thinking after the opening day stuffing by Arsenal and then getting beat by a resilient Burnley side the week after.

Everton are rock bottom, granted it’s only been two games, and are going to be desperate to get those first points on the board. They will be giving their new signing Sylvian Distin, the replacement for record signing Jolean Lescott who secured his transfer to Manchester City.

Latics will have to get over the departure of Michael Brown, but going on the first three games he wasn’t going to feature very much anyway. Bobby will have everybody but Kapo available to be chosen and it will be interesting to see if he chooses to change things around or stick with the team he’s started with for the first three games.

Either way I think Latics fans are just desperate for Martinez to succeed, after years of ugly football it would be great to see us mixing it by playing good, passing football, but firstly we need that performance we saw on the opening day and we will certainly see results follow.

The history book doesn’t go in our favour in this fixture, but as we’ve proven on many occasions, history means nothing when it comes to football; it doesn’t earn you extra points. Latics haven’t won at Goodison since our first season in the Premier League, but how we could do with our second win there.
