Are you over the age of 50? Want to keep fit, healthy and make new friends? Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s new Re-cycling project could be for you.

Latics2Amsterdam and Wigan Athletic Community Trust

The Re-Cycling scheme will be funded by Ambition for Ageing.

  • Information evening to be held at Montrose Skills Hub on Thursday 30th November.
  • Sessions will be led by Latics 2 Amsterdam’s cycling team.
  • Ambition for Ageing aims to reduce social isolation in older people.

Funded by Ambition for Ageing, the project will be led by members of Latics 2 Amsterdam’s cycling team who cycled from Wigan to Holland in aid of Prostate Cancer UK earlier this summer, and the Community Trust will host an information evening about the scheme on Thursday 30th November.

The session will take place between 5-7pm at Montrose Skills Hub on Montrose Avenue, and will give a flavour of the project which will offer cycling activities at the DW Stadium for all levels, from those who have never been on a bike, perhaps since childhood, to the more experienced cyclist.

If you haven’t got a bike you are still more than welcome to attend the sessions as the Community Trust have 15 free bikes for use.

Ambition for Ageing is part of a £10.2 million Greater Manchester-wide programme aimed at creating more age friendly places and empowering people to live fulfilling lives. It is funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Ageing Better programme, which aims to reduce social isolation in older people.
