Juan Carlos Garcia loses Leukaemia Battle

Honduran left-back passes away aged just 29.

Former Latics left-back Juan Carlos Garcia has lost his brave battle with Leukaemia and passed away in his native Honduras with his close family and friends around him.

Garcia was part of the Honduran revolution at the club following the likes of Wilson Palacios, Hendry Thomas, Roger Espinoza and Maynor Figueroa.  Having signed in 2013 from Olimpia, the 34 time Honduran International made just one appearance for the club against Manchester City in the League Cup defeat at The Etihad Stadium.

He headed home to Honduras in 2016 after his contract expired to continue his fight against the illness that plagued his time at the club.  His last Wigan Athletic appearance was parading the League One trophy round the pitch after promotion two seasons ago, and he will be remembered on Saturday with a minutes silence prior to the Peterborough game.
