This year’s Latics Legends showpiece promises to be the biggest yet – in the form of an FA Cup final rematch against Manchester City! And Blues legend Georgi Kinkladze will be flying in from Russia to try to give City some pride in a fixture that’s given them little recent joy.

The game will once again take place at Ashton Town FC, on Saturday, May 12 – five years and a day since Latics shocked the football world by winning the FA Cup at Wembley. The cup itself will be in attendance on the day, along with a host of key Latics figures from that day.

Emmerson Boyce will once again be skippering the Latics Legends, with the management team that day – Roberto Martinez and Graeme Jones – confirmed in the starting line-up.

Arjan de Zeeuw – who has brought over a team of Dutch Masters to provide the opposition for the last two years – will this time be in the Latics defence.

Alongside the regular names on the team sheet – such as Nathan ‘Duke’ Ellington and Kevin Sharp – making his debut this year will be striking legend Don Page, a cult figure from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Tickets are on sale from this Saturday, March 10 (10am) from the DW Stadium ticket office, www.wiganlatics.co.uk/tickets and by calling 0871 66 33 552.

They are priced £10 adults, £5 concessions (under-16s and over-65s), under-6 free. All proceeds will go to the Wigan-based Joseph’s Goal charity, to find a cure for the rare genetic disorder, NKH.

Eight-year-old Joseph, Wigan’s lucky mascot at Wembley in 2013, met City boss Pep Guardiola before last month’s FA Cup tie between the two sides at the DW Stadium.

The game, which kicks off at 3pm, is expected to be a sell-out and fans are advised to secure their tickets early.
