League leaders Chelsea are next up at the DW Stadium and with six wins out of six so far, Bobby would love for Latics to start a winning streak this Saturday.

After the dismal display against Arsenal last week, most would feel downbeat and dreading the arrival of yet another game against one of the top four. But Bobby has got his team together this week and had them learning about each other in a kind of ‘group therapy’.

The Latics gaffer is also boosted by the fact that Scharner, McCarthy, Koumas and fresh from a couple of run outs in the reserves Olivier Kapo are available to let him mix it up a bit.

Martinez has tried to keep the faith with the eleven who started off the campaign in such a blaze of glory, but maybe it is time to let a couple of players get their first starts and maybe give that spark that we need.

With the size of Chelsea’s squad Ancelloti only has headaches over picking his starting eleven, but even though his team has a 100% record so far, they have been damn lucky in two or three of those games to get the result.

As I mentioned in my last couple of previews, it is our speed that is letting us down. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the kind of football that Bobby is getting us playing right now, is the way forward to higher league positions and ultimately a sneaky European tour place at some point.

What is very lacking is the player’s ability to think, pass, tackle and shoot quickly – speed is the only thing that is letting this system down. If you believe the minority on the message boards, you’d have us relegated now, I feel that we are a fraction of second away from having a very good team.

Against Villa it was there, if was fast thinking, fast passing and the team believed in each other. What happened after that game is anybody’s guess, but what the players know is that they can do it, because they already have.

Hugo Rodallega started the rallying calls earlier this week by hinting we are going to see an upset on Saturday, the Colombian striker said “”We have to start picking up in games like this and looking at winning every game, not relying on what might happen after that in games against other teams.

“Chelsea is an important game for us, and we’ll be going all-out to win that one. There is a run of games coming up after when maybe we could be looking to pick up more points. But let’s start with Saturday first, and hopefully get three points against Chelsea.”

Let’s hope he’s right and we can get the performance bang on.
