In an email sent to the Wigan Athletic Supporters Club, the editor of a Borussia Monchengladbach web site gives us an insight into why Steve Gohouri was axed from Germany and what we can expect from the player

My name is Daniel Louis and I am the Editor of the German Borussia Mönchengladbach fan page http://www.buechsenwurf.de.

To avoid any misunderstandings let me put it as obvious as possible, it is a pity that Steve had to leave us, since he is an amazing defender with an open heart. He is always willing to fight for his club until the referee blows the whistle. On top of that the whole crowd still loves him for his way of playing/fighting football.

None the less he was also famous for his ‘extracurricular activities’ such as spending the night in a pub before an important derby or for missing to see the doctors as part of his recovery plan. Therefore he was kicked out of our first squad and found himself on the bench of our second team.

As far as I am concerned, Steve will be a great help for you in staying in the league, since I do believe that he has learned his lesson and is more than grateful to get the chance to play in a professional team again. The Premiere League has always been a dream of him.

Me and many other fans will keep our fingers crossed for him and his new team.

Regards Daniel
