Roberto takes his team up to the Stadium of Light this weekend to play a game that could go a long way in deciding our fate, there will hopefully be a couple of Wigan Athletic debuts handed out as well.

Steve Bruce has only seen his side win once in the last 15 games and he will be wishing that of all teams to play, it wasn’t us this weekend. Bobby will take Latics to Sunderland hoping to turn around our stop start season and with two new strikers to choose from he will be looking to end the goal drought we have been experiencing lately.

With the chances that this team creates it is disastrous that we haven’t been killing teams off, Notts County in midweek and Everton at the weekend both should have been put to bed before half time, but our performance in front of goal nowhere near matches the dominance everywhere else on the pitch.

Victor Moses and Marcelo Moreno have been brought to the club to fill the void and the two young lads will hopefully come through and start banging them in straight away. Strangely, we have only won once since we beat Sunderland at the DW Stadium back in November and there is only two points and one place separating us in the League.

A win for Latics would see us leapfrog our opponents, still with a game in hand; a loss would be very hard to take. Bobby will have his full outfield squad available to him; just Kirkland is on the physio table at the moment. Steve Bruce has seen a couple of his players come back of late, Lee Cattermole being the highest profile one for this game (how long will it take Thomas to rile him up??). He will still have to do without Richardson, Ferdinand and Mensah though.

It will be interesting to see how Wigan treat this game and which personnel we will use, Melchiot is a slight doubt and might not be risked, so we could see Boyce at right back with Bramble, Caldwell and Figueroa. The midfield and strikers is anybody’s guess, will he risk two or three strikers???

Which every way we look at this it will be an interesting game and it is one that we really should be winning, let’s get a nice 2-0 win with a debut goal for Moses and look towards doing the same against Stoke on Tuesday.
