Danson took on a club on the brink of extinction. Had we have gone into admin I promise you without someone stepping that would have been it.
He inherited a huge wage bill with numerous players on £10k plus. For a Championship side that’s ridiculous a L1 it utter madness.
As we know a few players left using the “I weren’t paid clause” and another simply paid too much.
Danson then proceeded to pay these big earner wages for the best part of 12 months till all their contracts were up this summer. Now I fully understand the Hughes money has to go back into the running of the club that’s understandable.
Now that’s fair enough as Dansons dipped into own pocket propping up this wage bill fiasco create by that gobsh*te Brannigan.
As for Danson been invisible?, that’s his nature, he keeps himself out the limelight a very private person and rarely does interviews so again that’s fine.
My issue is this:-
Now the wage bill has gone down to non league level due to cheap loans and players just happy to be playing been added to the squad we need to slowly re-build. What I see is a company that gets rid of its skilled work force replaced with a load of apprentices.
The current squad has a total lack of experience especially in the middle,
Up front?, wow !! We’re thinner than pound shop toilet roll coupled with a manager who’s frustrated to fook at the lack of funds it’s a very dangerous relegation game to play.
Yes get rid of the big earners I agree but at least replace some of those that have gone with experience.
CEO ?, we need a dedicated football. A CEO who communicates with the manager and fans alike. If Danson loves playing the phantom of the brick stadium then we need someone visible and two way communication with fans and manager alike.
Danson isn’t a fool so he knew the state of the clubs fiances when he took over and I’m sure he would have known it would take some of his own money to get us back on an even keel.
If he wants to recoup it on year two then fine again but to do that something has to give and right now it’s a slash wages and sale time.
I honestly fear for us this season. The Barnsley game was an eye opener. Both sides made a host of changes but their squad was far far superior to ours and we were hammered that second half and that will be our downfall
Little investment
Youngest squad I’ve ever seen 13 out the 28 20 or less
And a bench that’s resembles an u21 side.
Fingers crossed I hope I’m so so wrong I do and these young lads prove me wrong but that’s how I see it
