I think the issue lies when both Tickle and Hughes re-signed new contracts.
Most players request a buy out clause when extending contracts but it’s the amount were the problem lies.
Is it the club or is it the agent who sets the figure?. The player for me holds all the cards because like Plymouth and what’s gone on with their keeper Cooper. He’d 12 months left, if he doesn’t sign or doesn’t want to the clubs forced to sell and no doubt command a lower amount.
If Tickle and Hughes had say 12 months left we’d get stung. You can’t step in the way of a player who wants to better himself higher league and on far more money we have to be realistic here.
Look I’m as fooked off as the next Latics fan, it’s hard to stomach. It’s wrong and it’s also right, but what can you do ?.
For me we should have shown some ambition in the transfer market and Danson should have backed the manager these players might have done another year to see us through this transitional period but it’s looking like our final two golden nuggets have gone.
Now all these loanees??? Are they as good as anything we can bring through ?
Def not and that’s my issue
