I heard we had 4 players that between them they were costing us not far off £200,000 a month nearly £2.5million a year in wages and bullsh*t bonuses.
I’m sorry chaps but that for a club like us is unsustainable regardless of how good they are plus they basically failed to perform.
Humphrys was too his & miss. I remember some games he was unplayable then the week after downing tools not even chasing back. If he was on £7k (I don’t know) that’s £350,000 a year unbelievable amount of money and again unsustainable.
If Barnsley are prepared to get near that then fair play to the lad but there was a few reasons he was released:-
1) too inconsistent
2) too much money
I’m not sure what we offered him but is was clearly way off the amount he wanted so tbh we can’t blame the club for so called dumping him, he wanted more than we could afford so he moved on that’s the truth of the matter and that’s football for you.
It’s hard, very very hard, its the devil and the deep blue sea. I see both sides of the argument,
Balancing the books with huge cuttbacks players and staff.
Then there’s Danson who’s culled so much were unrecognisable and the whole clubs going nowhere with a grey cloud hanging over us.
How do we solve it?, there’s only one real solution, invest in scouting and youth, bring young lads through and sell.
We need more Tickles and Hughes’s, without this we don’t create enough revenue to be self sufficient. Our owners a billionaire twice over but he’s tighter than a submarine door.
Him putting £10million in would be like me throwing £100 in. Imagine been worth £2000million? You can’t take it with you untie the purse strings and have some fun, no one’s saying go mad but back your manager and give him half a chance right now he has no chance.
