Even when away from home and you meet someone who sees your latics shirt its ‘Thought everyone watched rugby in Wigan’. Then you get the chubster fans locally who are so blinkered in their view on Latics and also their own imaginary huge support. Also folk you work with who think we play in front of 1100 while the lodgers pack out the stadium every week.
You meet and work with some pretty daft people then. I have traveled around quite a bit and, especially since 2005, I have hardly ever heard that view at all. Thick people in and around Wigan might express that view but, to be fair, their opinion doesn’t really count.
