All the play offs now go to Wembley – but in 2012 there was only one London team;
Blackpool v West Ham United
Huddersfield Town v Sheffield United
Cheltenham Town v Crewe Alexandra
Luton Town v York City
Even the Championship play off did not fill Wembley. Blackpool did not sell all their tickets – though West Ham obviously wanted more. The League One play off attracted 52,100 – perhaps more would have gone to Old Trafford. I’m sure Cheltenham and Crewe fans, and Luton and York fans, would have enjoyed a trip to the Midlands – Nottingham, Derby or Aston Villa would be candidates.
In 2012, a Wembley FA Cup semi-final for Tottenham v Chelsea suited the fans. It did not suit the fans for other game Liverpool v Everton. The year before, Manchester City played Manchester United and Bolton played Stoke.
The FA operate Wembley for their own financial benefit, not for the convenience of the fans. I am reluctant to add to their coffers.
FA stands for F**king Arseholes
