I don’t think any Latics fan recently hasn’t had doubts about Martinez including myself, but credit to him and his team for the spirit shown yesterday. Just as all was looking like crumbling they pulled it out of the fire.
One result doesn’t alleviate all of the doubts but it goes some way to show some desire, commitment and passion from the team. Martinez stated it was for the fans but i believe alot of that victory yesterday was down to personal pride amongst the players, which is a good sign.
Makes you wonder yesterday if we could have kept things that tight with Zog in the line up.
No way. Insomnia… Frog… what was his name? That pr**k, anyway, has been a major disruption to the team, and he’s one of the most selfish footballers I’ve ever watched. We were warned about him, and even last season you could see him arguing with players like Scharner and Melchiot.
Brilliant on his day, got some vital results for us, but it was usually at the cost of having a brilliant team performance.
Keep Stam there, I have been extremely impressed with him so far, only good player against Blackpool, didn’t have a bad game against Chelsea, and from what I’ve been told he had a blinder keeping Bale quiet yesterday (if he was indeed playing out wide on the right, as I have been told).
Yeah i kinda agree as far as zog is concerned, if we can get him to leave, but if he stays we might well as try to get best out of him but like you said maybe to the detriment of the team spirit.
Just can’t see him staying and working for his place again. (Would like him to in order to restore some faith in footballers. Not likely) Odds on to be leaving before transfer window closes i’d say.
