Am I right in thinking that George Davis was the fella who was the subject of disruptions to a couple of test matches back in the seventies when people dug up the wicket? I’ms ure Headingley was dug up and oil poured over the strip.

I heard this story on the radio news yesterday and that was exactly my thought.

It is the same George Davis from the ‘George Davis Is Innocent’ campaign that ruined the wicket overnight, before the final day of a really exciting Headingly Test Match between England and Australia.

I remember being gutted at the time and always thought George Davis was something to do with the IRA – until yesterday when I found out he was actually an armed robber :?

I heard on the radio yesterday that following the campaign for his release and his subsequent release , that some months later he got caught …….doing an armed robbery.

Ha ha he was a scrote all along anyway for the other crimes he did, yet he cheeky cockney barstewards maintained he was innocent. I bet he was a West Ham fan as well.
