I quite enjoy the arguments on here as usually it means we’ve won :)

My personal two pence worth is that realistically Cook, who I’m a massive fan of BTW,has probably taken us as far as he can do but that is nothing against his ability as a manager.

As a club we have to take gambles on players in order to compete in the top two divisions as we don’t have the money to buy “established” players. In the Prem we were signing nobodies from Honduras for pennies. Some worked, some didn’t. We signed players from Scotland in the same way. Nowadays we sign League 1 players that we hope can step up or Championship players who are possibly too old/injury prone. The fact is that if Jamal Lowe was a top player at this level he wouldn’t be here and similarly if Pilkington wasn’t injury prone he wouldn’t be here either.

Cook has shown that at times we can be superb, but at others (usually away) we can be dreadful. If the powers that be want to get rid then they have to be 100% that they have the man to replace him because as we showed with Coyle, Mackay and Joyce….it isn’t always as simple as sacking the manager.

We are a very small fish in this pond so for me, provided we can continue to be competitive it is tough to get rid.

Maybe a starter is for continuing to play this negative boring style of football.

Goalkeeping ricket saves the day otherwise it would have been another open play blank. I’m a fan of Moore but he’s screwed playing under Cook. Against a poor Birmingham side we looked mediocre and how anyone can sit and watch that shite and come out satisfied is beyond me .3 pts a bonus but his negative dross will see us hanging around the bottom all season. New staff, same boring ineffective drivel as last season.

Poor old Powelly he must wish he’s back here with us, I think most of us think the same We’ve gone as far as we can with him but we all like him so it’s a massive decision and some one needs big balls to make it.

We cannot compete financially with alot of other Championship clubs that’s the simple truth of the matter. Our recruitment policy has based on the likes of Lowe and Moore to buy cheap in comparison in the hope they do a job then we sell on for big money. Or we take a chance on older injury plagued players in the hope that our physio team can work wonders.
Putting player recruitment to one side the simple truth to the matter is, Cooks style of play and tactics are the problem. So last night there was a number of times were the ball was just launched directly as Moore when there was other options on were Moore should have been used as a decoy making space for others.
At times I couldn’t figure out the role of Lowe and Windass, what was their starting position? The just seemed to be floating around anywere they wanted I think they were both confused themselves.
Another thing, Robinson, would it be such a bad idea moving him to more of a left mid position and dropping Naismith in at left back ?. His pace and crossing would cause most teams problems and there wouldn’t be as much pressure on the lad bombing back and getting blamed for been out of position.
I can’t say he’s the worlds best defender and I’d say he’d be far more effective higher up the field.

It’s boring, boring to watch, no pattern to our play, certain players look at times lost as to what their roles are.
Last night Windass and Moore were full sprint back chasing balls a fookin greyhound wouldn’t catch.
I’m all for chasing and competing back with say a defender but when the balls heading back to the keeper from the half way line and 20-30 yard in front the attacking player say Moore or Windass what is the fookin point ???.

Moore burned himself out chasing absolute no chance lost causes that probably come up trumps 1 in every 1000 runs. That for me is a player under orders to chase every ball back regardless. Yes chase “competitive” balls but no chance half way knock backs ?. Windass did the same, would you say full sprints back is a good idea for a player just coming back from injury ?.

We need to try and put teams on the back foot rather than smashing it high to the big lad and 50m sprints back for lost causes. Last night was 2 poor sides and luckily we came out on top but that will not happen every week.
Cooks done his bit and he needs to move on. He bemoans players that are not doing as told in training so what does that say about his training methods ?.
Thanks Paul excellent job done but it’s time to move on.

I must admit, I get frustrated with this hoof ball tactic. It’s getting us nowhere.

Whilst you are basically spot on egg lad things can still change with tactics. I’m sure Lowe and Moore would show a lot more if they were playing a more attacking style like they would have albeit in league 1. I’m convinced it’s our negative approach to forward play as opposed to the squad quality that’s hindering us at present. I think we could be pleasantly surprised if Cookie was a bit more adventurous in our style.

The worse scenario would be to get rid a say after Christmas then a new manager starts trying to get rid and bring in with no time to weigh up our squad.

If he were to go now then at least it gives the new manager time to evaluate then make decisions what’s needed in the Jan window.
Personally I feel the squad is as good as its gonna get without going on a stupid spending spree.
I don’t get the loans of the 2 lads from Chelsea and Wolves. I just cannot for the life of me see either of them making a start or even make the bench in the League.

Some are saying that cook has taken us as far as he can. Out of interest, what exactly can a new manager do with the squad he inherits?

We’ll not get many goals from Moore playing him like we do. There’s nobody playing off him and we don’t whip crosses in from either wing for him to get on the end of. He just ends up tussling with centre backs?
Lowe should play through the middle for me, utilise his pace.
