I’m a fan of the play offs but would like to see final league position rewarded more.
Maybe 6th play away at 5th, winners play away at 4th, winners play 3rd at Wembley.… and whilst on the subject of embarrassing and cringe worthy fans, what’s with 40+ year old blokes chanting **** off to your corner shop, engerland engerland and Taliban. I’d been asked by a neutral if I could get him and his lad tickets for the game as they had to spend the weekend in the area and fancied “an afternoon of footy at a nice family club”. I tried to put him off with the excuse that the football was dire and there was likely to be zero entertainment but he said he was quite happy to watch any standard game as he loves his footy, thankfully his plans changed mid week and I avoided having to spend an afternoon in abject shame because of our bigoted neanderthal support.
Always regret missing the Baseball ground, by all accounts pretty special on a big night match.
I’m appalled, there is no place in modern society for such regionalism, even if they are all complete fookers !
All these poultry attempts at humour are pathetic. Stop banging the drum – stick to the original topic.
On my calculation if the capacity is 13,000 5% equates to only 650 :ohmy:I’m certain I saw a number in the 600’s when I was trawling the web just after the draw, but I can’t find anything official now, best I could find were:
From a match report 2011:
The goal briefly quietened the travelling contingent of just over 600 Birmingham fansFrom the spurs ticket news archive 2012:
Loyalty Points 5 NK Maribor v Spurs Thursday 25 October Kick Off 19 00 Local Time Stadion Ljudski vrt Maribor Allocation 642 Price Adult 17 00It seems (based on a match write up on a spurs forum) that Spurs sold out but only about 300 actually went, the rest presumably just getting the tickets for the loyalty points. Can’t see many Wiganers getting a ticket and not turning up, can see a few turning up and not getting a ticket !
For those travelling down to Heathrow on the Wednesday, Premier Inn are running a sale at the moment (aren’t they always) and I’ve just booked a twin room at the Premier Inn at Heathrow for 39 quid.
As well as the cost consideration (not insignificant) there’s also the time consideration for some of us. I don’t get sick pay / holiday pay so every day off work has to be factored into the overall cost, plus I do get grief sometimes for the amount of time football invades our family life, so for me it has to be in and out of the games as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Looking at train to Heathrow Wednesday night after work, budget hotel / mates floor in London then return to Zargreb (125 quid) leaving early Thursday am returning to Heathrow Friday afternoon. Hire car in Zargreb airport for 24 hours (seen quotes for less than 20 quid – including snow tyres :-)). Hotel in Maribor Thursday night. The biggest difficulty has been finding reasonably priced travel Wigan to Heathrow and back, keeping my eye out for cheap trains, but if anyone wants to offer 2 of us a lift I’d be very happyWhy would you not go through tunnel pal, only half hour and its about a one’er returnI got 1 car with 5 passengers return through tunnel for 59 quid total (directferries.com), although we are coming straight back after game so return time is Friday 01:22 which might have helped the price
That’s really interesting to know Johnny, I’d pretty much given up on Kazan but might have another look now, thanks for the info.
I wish there was a separate thread for each Euro away game as I’m very interested in how others are getting to each game, but what do I know, I’m just a spectator, not a chairman.
Pretty much sorted for Waregem thanks to the selflessness of a good mate, got flights booked for Maribor (Heathrow to Zagreb) and plans for the round trip Zargreb to Maribor and back, just need to figure out Wigan to Heathrow on a Wednesday night and back on a Friday afternoon, would appreciate anyone sharing any info that will help me do that as cheaply as possible.
All you girls with your silly puns ruin a perfectly good thread you bunch of Lesbos :)
Ahh well, Belgium’s a bit nearer :SGround capacity 10200, let the ticket scramble commence !
apologies to Griff if this is dull but has anyone heard any mention from the club about the likelyhood of them doing any Europa away packages for us fans or is it every man (woman and child) for themselves sorting out our own transport, hotels etc as soon as the draw has been made.
I know other clubs do various travel packages for their fans but obviously this is virgin territory for club and fans alike for us lot.
This was wake up call number ….. hmm, I’m losing track.
I have to say that I was thoroughly entertained today. The turgid and depressing tedium of premier league football has been replaced by the ebb and flow of attacking exciting and entertaining championship football and I hope to see many more games like today. Thankfully I’m long passed being obsessed by football “results” and can enjoy the beautiful game for what it is and today I enjoyed watching 2 teams going for it. Unfortunately, the opposition were better at it than my team but still a very entertaining afternoon all the same. Many thanks Garswood, you won’t find me moaning, well not about you posting source documents anyway :)
