I’m all for goal line technology. It’s about time imo.
I’d also use technology for the offside rule.
Unlike a foul, which one ref will interpret differently from another, with the offside rule, you are either onside or offside.
That’s simply not true though, is it? With this daft passive/not interfering with play business, offside is almost as much down to interpretation as a foul is.
If you’re on the field, you’re interfering with play. That was always the theory in the past. That’s how it should be now, if we’re talking about changing the rules that is.
If you’re behind the last man in defence, then you’ll be offside. Simple as that so that would solve the argument on ‘interpretation’.
And both boots they will certainly go in, Standish.
The Evertonians I know did not want him in the first place and have said they’ll let Martinez know exactly how they’ll feel if it starts to go belly up.
Somehow, I don’t think the post match waffle will win them over at all imo.

Unlike a foul, which one ref will interpret differently from another, with the offside rule, you are either onside or offside. With the number of cameras at games now, it would be easy to implement a quick decision.
If the attacking team is flagged for offside by the linesman and they go on to score, then it should be reviewed by a 3rd party ( a video ref if you like). This will take all of 15-30 seconds, about the time it takes to kick off again. If offside, obviously, no goal. Kick off from the centre spot, rather than a free kick. If on side, then the goal stands. kick off as normal.
If the attacking team are flagged and don’t go on to score, let play go on.
Basically, keep the game flowing, even if the lino flags. If no goal, no issue. If a goal occurs, then review it.
To be honest, I’d hoped the bookies would stick us at least 20-1, at least it’d give me a chance to get summat back for the cost of my season ticket! :woohoo:
Besides, Martinez was in a different league to Coyle.
Listen to Lostock and Blueview, you might learn something, lad
Learn from anyone on this forum? I’ve said it until I’m, blue in the face – the people I respect/like on this forum I know personally and I reserve my discussions with them for when we meet face to face. The rest of you gobshites really don’t matter at all.
So why do you bother responding to posts, if you’re so superior ?
It’s a question I ask myself all the time. I guess the answer is because it seems to wind up gobshites
Hmm, there’s only one chap on this forum that seems to get so easily wound up and that’s you.. That must mean you’re the biggest gobshite of them all then eh?
this guy say`s he`s left us in good shape HOW`S THAT MARTINEZ were in the championship you`ve took the back room staff and left us with players out of contract who have now all gone YOUR A TOSSER Rant over .I like Coyles signing`s so far keep it up lad after what you`ve been left with anyone any thought`s
I wouldn’t worry mate. The future is in front of us now, Martinez is part of our history – to some with either fondness or hatred. Personally, I couldn’t care less for the man now.
All managers talk the talk when they’re at their respective clubs, it part and parcel of the bollocks required and Martinez was no different. Coyle will be the same, that’s how it is and always will be.
True, but having someone ‘geeing’ up the team from the sidelines can only be positive. Mr Ferguson could probably tell you that.
Martinez encouraged his players throughout games: thumbs up, claps, nods, gestures etc.
What’s the point of balling and screaming when in a full stadium, only the players within a five yard radius can hear what the manager is shouting?
Full stadium? I can only recall one real sell out and that was our first game in the Premiership under Jewell. I’m sure Coyle will be heard now though, as enough ‘dark siders’ wont be attending the Championship games now he’s in charge, so I am led to believe anyway. That should keep attendances down.
Roberto’s ‘Marcel Marceau’ impersonations and his incessant finger puppetry hardly inspired us last season SW. 4 home wins?
Leaving the DW Stadium on the 8th May 2013; the day after we got rolled over by Swansea. That adds a little bit of intrigue into my belief that DW was “happy” to let RM go.
Adds a little bit of intrigue to my belief that an out of work football manager who lives with within 20 miles of a premier league football ground is highly likely to go to a match at that ground on a Tuesday night rather than stay at home and watch Eastenders.
Conspiracy theory rating: 0
Griffter, my good fellow; we played Swansea on the 7th May whereas LHL claims that Owen was spotted coming out of the DW the following day. And in his own words today he says “when I first stepped into the DW” I knew this is where I wanted to be; thus potentially and unwittingly giving us a clue that the first meeting of sorts, was at the Stadium. Conspiracy theory – yes definitely. Whilst Roberto might have been a “nice son to Dave”, you don’t necessarily want your “nice son” managing your football team. Dave strikes me as a boss that would demand more fire & passion from his key employees, so maybe that’s why he severed the umbilical cord.
Am I missing summat here?
‘He was seen leaving the DW 8th, the day after we got rolled over by Swansea.’

I’m not so sure about this rolling contract malarky though, doesn’t emanate a lot of faith by Whelan. I’d have thought if Whelan thinks he’s the right man he’d have looked a bit more long term?. But that’s Whelan and I suppose it will be easier to get shut of if it goes belly up.
Absolute disaster.I will not be renewing my season ticket. Players will want to leave and he will not be able to attract the right players. Just wait for the Burnley and Bolton rejects.
Go and watch someone else then.
I will be renwing mine and I would have regardless who Whelan may have brought in. Now’s the time to get behind the team AND the manager, I know I will.
