Did I ever mention that he insisted on signing copies of my book when he realised they were being raffled off for Jospeh’s Goal? ;)

Did you show him where to sign and he cocked it up by putting it in completely the wrong place?
He went in too heavy with the pen and ripped the cover and then, not for the first time in his career, gave the pen away! :)

Respect to anyone that gives to charity or anyone worse off but usually large donations are made by people that have it to spare and are rarely truly altruistic acts. Gerrard giving away six figure sums is a bit like me donating a tenner to Comic Relief. That’s not having a pop at Gerrard per se, that’s just the way it is.

Gerrad is allegedly on £150 per week. So for your tenner to match his £100k donation means you must be on £15 per week. I suspect you’re not. ;)

I get your point, but it isn’t actually the same. And even if he isn’t on megabucks, he still didn’t have to do it.
” And even if he isn’t on megabucks ” ? Around £7.8m a year plus endorsements!! If that ain’t megabucks then I don’t know what is! :silly:
Would it have been easier for you to understand if I’d said “if he wasn’t on megabucks”? But, either way, I think the point I was trying to make was fairly obvious.
My point was that he IS on megabucks! Let’s just say that the average wage is a tenner an hour, I don’t actually know but we shall go with a tenner for my example. Now if he gave a £100,000 to a charity that is like someone on the average wage giving £250 over the last say 15 years! No, he didn’t have to do it but it was a mere splash in the ocean pro rata!

We could do with someone in that mould though. He was putting himself about, terrorising Skrtel, winning headers, winning tackles. Nothing fancy just an out and out centre forward.

TBH I think that is what Mackay is trying to get out of McClean.

McClean is not a centre forward, never will be!

                How bad they’ve looked when?

If you’re bought as a hold up man and you play shite then that’s a different story to banging goals in against Real Madrid or 26 in a season and being asked to do it, when you’ve never done it.

It’s like asking a joiner to fix my car.

On a separate note, I watched Delort try to play on his own in his first game at Blackburn and he worked his absolute tripe off and all anyone could say around me was how good he was going to be with a partner or at least some support. At 1 nil up after 60 minutes we looked pretty decent. Then something happened when it went 1-1 and we have never recovered. He was tried up on his own for the next 2 games I think and got dropped never to be seen, similar to Riera.

Why folk think they’ve been given a fair crack at it is beyond me and they keep banging the goals in it he reserves playing together, while Fortune zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

                Bored of this now.

Riera has featured in 13 games this season and Delort in 8. I’ve seen nothing to suggest either may be a better option to Fortune and our two managers this season clearly feel the same.

Scoring against the Dog ‘n Duck / Morcambe Reserves at Christopher park may be well and good, but it’s meant as a nursery to develop young first and second year professionals, not for million pound strikers to show how good they are by banging ‘em in against teenagers.

Incidentally, when Riera scored 13 in La Liga last season, it was as part of a 4-2-3-1 formation – so it would appear he can play as a lone striker. Not sure what formation Delort is used to.

I hope one or both of them are given a chance and come good – but I doubt it.
So Johnny, why do the managers play them in those games? Surely it is pointless and if anything risky because they could get injured!

If a player scores on a regular basis for the development squad but supposedly doesn’t impress his manager in training, thus not getting a regular start in the first team, then my question has to be what is the point of the development squad? The manager has more or less stuck to the same line up/ formation for a few games now with a modicum of success ( One win away to a decent side ) but on the whole it just hasn’t worked and so one must question his stubborness! On the odd occasion that Fortuné and Riera have found themselves on the pitch at the same time we actually looked threatening and so my final question must be, why have they not been used from the start? To me it is a no brainer but alas I am not the manager!

I keep hearing/reading ” He inherited these players ” etc and this is true, he did, from another incompetent stubborn manager who also had the full backing of those who say/write this? In fact, I think they said the same about the guy before him who they had also defended to the hilt albeit it not as much as the last two! These fans if you notice never offer any possible solutions or ideas of their own, they just tell you to accept what is happening and that the people in charge know what they are doing? All I know is that the formation/team selection is not working at the moment and if he continues to stick with it we are going down, end of! I actually believe that some fans hanker for lower league football and the so called ‘Good old days’ !

To be fair he looked pretty awful all game. Looks like he’s put a bit of timber on since he left us.

                      Paddy will be glad!

I’m really not going to go on more about this, except to point out that (as an HR professional :) ) I go to source documents, not the site of some third party, particularly one that has a one-sided view for their advice.

The relevant paragraph quoted, article 18.4 of the FIFA regulations, only answers the second hypothetical question posed in the Players’ union site.

“The validity of a contract may not be made subject to a successful
medical examination and/or the grant of a work permit.”

                        http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/regulations_on_the_status_and_transfer_of_players_en_33410.pdf

No mention of injury. And we’re not talking about the validity of a contract. No-one is arguing it’s not valid – but can it be unilaterally terminated? The answer is, like all contracts, yes. The only issue is the amount of compensation.

However – let’s just agree to disagree, before one of us dies :)

30 odd years latic must be rubbing off on you….”As ‘an’ HR Professional” ! ;)

Well what he is trying at the moment doesn’t seem to be working and so maybe he should try some other combination? Even toddlers realise after several failed attempts that square pegs don’t fit into round holes! Just sayin!

                                You’re never a size 36 waist jeans!32 or 34 max but never 36! I’m 34!

36 mate, honestly. But, as I say, I’m usually constantly hitching them up! ;)
So you are an uncomfortable and nipping 34 really! I just half my portions for a month when I get to my max limit ( 15 stone ) A month of halving everything usually has me comfortable at 14 stone or thereabouts! A doctor whose windows I cleaned once told me that the BMI thing is a croc of shite and I have to agree with her. The reason I agree is because the nurse at my annual check thingy me bob did mine and said that I had to lose 2 stone in order to attain my perfect BMI ! I was 14.7 when she weighed me, can you imagine what I would look like if I lost 2 stone!! Heroin chic is what I would look like!! :) I start to look ill and gaunt if I drop below 13 and a half! I did it a few year back and a couple of my customers started to enquire about my well being!!

And it appears his letter of resignation as chairman has been put in the War Chest.

6 weeks is fine – will be back in time to welcome Cardiff City and their lovely owner ;)

I’m sure he said that he would resign if they found him guilty of being a racist. The wording of the FA Charge is that he is not a racist, but is guilty of saying things of an offensive nature. Racist will not be on DW’s CV.

Spent New Years Eve in Knott End and three of us went for a walk down the Wyre this morning. Bumped into a chap walking his dogs and he asked was we “pie munchers”, probably because of our accents. He turned out to be a Blackpool fan and said that how the FA has treated Whelan was an absolute disgrace. He said that every person he had spoke to had said the same thing.

It’s nice to know that not every fekker is wanting to hang big Dave out to dry.
He went on to say that he worked with some Indians and as he called them, “some Pakis” as well. They did not feel that calling them Pakis was an insult to their religion. He said those two ethnic minorities are racist towards each other all the time, but its laughed off as friendly banter.

If I was Whelan I would have certainly appealed that charge, based on what Balotelli got, but I suppose the wording of the charge, has left him in a better frame of mind and in a position whereby he could accept it.
The big question here has to be ‘What the fuck where you doing in Knott End?’ My Dad used to live there and there is fuck all there! Only time I go there now is to tidy his grave up now and again!
