We have NO recognised strikers starting today !
Well McManaman is down as a striker on his player profile. On saying that, he has now been replaced with half an hour to go, with a midfielder! Definitely no strikers out there now! Not sure about this guy’s tactics at all!
Formations are a load of bollocks most of the time as players get dragged out of position too easily! They may start in a certain formation but invariably it ends up being something completely different! Strikers these days are not necessarily the penalty area predators of old and so playing 2 strikers doesn’t have to mean 2 players right upfront! What I am trying to say is that it would be good to see 2 strikers starting but in a different set up, I feel there would be more options and contingencies with 2 forwards on the field as opposed to making substitutions! Anything has to be better than the lone wolf striker formation that we seem to have adopted with no fruition on the horizon as of yet!
So, maybe one target man, and one playing off him, a bit deeper? You could then have two wide men in an a more advanced position as support so you get an….err…..4-2-3-1 :P
They could mix it up a bit is what I was getting at! Waghorn is a striker but has predominantly been played out wide for us! My point is we should try starting games with two recognized strikers on the pitch!
I think this is what you’d call a dilemma.I don’t think the original boycott set out to get charity but now you’ll have at least 500 people there and Leeds get 500 x £36 which defeats the point people originally set out to make.
Also, a great gesture by the players but 500 x £36 / 26 (players) is £350 a player – hardly breaks the bank. Now if they stood it for all pre-sales…………
I know bah humbug
I would say that a pretty high percentage of those players will rely on that £350 one day! ;)

lapsus calami 3 times, maybe more as i did read it quickly and only once!
Must try harder!
I thought our fans had been boycotting away games for years! :)
Why are some of you wanting away fixtures? I know the gate is shared but why would you want to fork out extra money to travel? Plus there is the dare I say it, home advantage!
I have ‘Ad Block Plus’ so no advertisements for me! The 2 seasons prior to the Prem experience were by far better than what I have witnessed in the Championship this time around! The Martinez era was very up and down but on the whole pretty boring in my book, but we did win the FA Cup and for that reason alone he is exempt from the slagging off treatment !
It just goes to show what a pretty shit squad we have these days! Boozy Joe and Gomez are sorely missed along with the 2 macs, those 4 alone would change the whole complexity of the side! I honestly cannot name one player who would interest any Prem club or promotion chasing side in the Championship, not one!! I am going to start up the ‘Darkside’ again, who’s in?
I was told yesterday that he has a shoulder injury at the moment, but should soon be back in contention.
A strike partnership of Caldwell and Rogne, or Al Habsi and Nicholls would be better than what we have had up front this season.Caldwell did score at Liverpool :cheer:
Delort or Riera wouldn’t score in a knocking shop on current form.
My pairing (on current personnel) would be Fortune/Waghorn. Waghorn would give flexibility to the formation eg could be 4-4-2 or switch to 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1 as the game develops..or any mixture of the formations.
If/when Holt returns, then provided he is fully fit then yes I would start with him instead of Fortune.
What current form is that then? The only time they’ve played together is the last reserve games and Delort has scored 3. Why does anybody even consider they’ve been given a chance when all of our strikers have been asked to play in their own backs to goal? Never understood why strikers are bought when they’ve bagged a hatful playing a certain way then their asked to play solo and hold it up.
It’s like our last few managers have had their brains removed. It isn’t fcking working why are we still doing it?????
It might all be a conspiracy to have us back in the shithouse leagues, where we belong according to some! All the ‘Goole Away’ crew will be in their fuckin element then ! :)
I think we may have seen the last of the little fella!!
Just realised, we have 4 recognised strikers and so far they have bagged a massive 4 goals between them! Now there is something fundamentally wrong when stats like this are apparent! I would suggest going back to the tried and tested dual striker formation, the formation that got us into the Premier League in the first place! It has to be applied and adhered to and I am confident that a change of fortune ( No pun intended ) would come about sooner rather than later. My suggested pairing would be Fortune and Riera.Which two would you go with?
I agree with you totally but we just might be termed as Preston/Leyland and Chorley knobheads again for daring to have a different opinion to our resident cave dwelling, tunnell visioned, Martinez loving, WN post coded ‘Booker Prize’ winner.
My pairing would be Holt and Waghorn, as they are the only ones with a track record or even look like they know were the net is.
The others have had chances and failed miserably, but as a dual strikeforce would certainley have a better chance.
Waghorn is actually our leading striker goalscorer yet he seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth?
He should have watched that fucking garbage that I witnessed today ! Not going too well for him either so far!
Did they get booed off at the end? I had more important things to be getting on with and so I had vacated the stadium early for a change!! I believe the Goodison faithful turned on Bobby midweek as well and booed his shower of shite off the pitch after a disappointing draw with that relegation fodder outfit Hull City!
Disclaimer- I do not boo myself but I do believe it is a fan’s prerogative, seeing as it is the fans who shell out lots of their hard earned cash to watch players stealing a living like I witnessed today! Shocking performance!
And then he took off our only striker and replaced him with a midfielder, this prompted a chorus of ” You don’t know what you’re doing “! Bit early for turning on him eh! We were extremely poor today and the 4-1 odds on offer for relegation look very tempting right now!
