That performance surprised me JR, better than expected.
Thought Connolly switched off for their first goal, poor defending!
We came out in the second half and had a spell of play that Newcastle struggled to cope with. Three great chances, Scored one, missed two, story of our season so far..
Draw would have been a fair result for me.

BTW, Jacobs goal was taken superbly. Not a lover of him but credit where it’s due.

Love your optimism but then the realism kicks in.

We will fight to the end.

The reality is we have to. I fear for the club if/when we go down.

As Theresa would say, Relagation means Relegation. I fear where the club will be in 5 years time. I fear we will implode. :S
If people turn their back on the club, as some on here have said they will, it will be tough. But if those football snobs grow a pair and decide that League One isn’t beneath them we should be OK.
I will be there next season…being a fan means being there whatever the division. I just fear what division that will be in 5 years time
It worries me at times where we will be in ten years but wherever that is I shall still be there. Look the eight thousand or so fans we have this season that weren’t there twenty years ago may not fancy lower league or non league football but I don’t enjoy Latics anymore now or when we were in the greed league than in the Non League days. Bloody loved the Chorley derbys and the cup runs and all the extra matches just as much as any other period in Latics recent history.
Football has changed donny from the olden days and not for the better in some fans eyes (mine incl). But our club has moved on and so does the thinking of some fans. We will be the BIG club in league 1. I don’t like that fact but we’ll have to get used to it. Unless we do turn our fortunes around.

It’s time for us to admit it. We are terrible, no prospect of ever getting back to former glories and the town isn’t interested.

We weren’t terrible yesterday my friend, total opposite actually. But we did undo ourselves, again!
Strange post for a latics fan, if you are one?

I quite agree, I don’t want him back, but watch this space

As naive as our hierarchy have been this would take it to another level…
How have you come to this conclusion?

Newcastle fans support their team through thick and thin .
It hurts the fans more than the greedy players, owners and know they’ve no right to believe they should be in the premier league because they’re a ‘big club’.
Respect given.

No they dont. They are as fickle as any other fans. I remember several times in the early eighties and again in the early nineties Newcastle having crowds in the low teens of thousands with average crowds of 16 to 17 thousand.
One thing you can’t say about them Geordies is that they don’t support their club. They’ve always had decent support, especially away.

I agree though, they are fickle in the sense that they never seem to be happy. They even moaned when they had Bobby Robson in charge. Geordies, Spurs & Arsenal are the worst English supporters for moaning IMO..

It’s a decent following considering, so made up. Should be a good atmosphere…. well, until we go behind

Fair to say jayt the midlands have been good to us this season. Five of our nine wins this season have come against midland teams. Pitty we aint got anymore to play.

If a lift in players spirits was going to happen it would have been against Villa, but it didn’t. Low morale, low confidence = poor looking players. We’re doomed…

Anything is possible lhl.. let’s hope the team have spent this international break practicing getting the ball forward quicker to striker/s and that old art of shooting.. Newcastle do seem to wobble at home on occasions, but I’m just being silly now thinking we could?

Just one bottle of shiraz was it Leyland

On paper possible yes, but…… We have to play 4 of the top 5, 3 away! As loyal as i’d like to be, the picture doesn’t look good so i’m fully expecting us to go down. On current form, & with my blue tints on, i can only see us getting 9 points. Which is nowhere near enough.

If we are lucky enough to come back up next season, maybe Sharpy won’t be as naive and not get too giddy on deadline transfer day.

No. I think Daz is all of them.

I know that one Egg, my missus uses Diaz..

We must try to deter-gent people from using these terrible quips.

The comings & goings of players at our club is a definite factor in our current predicament.
Man City went through a stage of chopping & changing managers & players 20+ years ago and they paid the price. Fell down the leagues & took a long while to recover!!

That was a good performance. Awful decision by officials for first goal. Would have been a different game had we have got the foul on the keeper

Couldn’t go to this game so me old chap went in my place and he said very much same as you terts. He thought Villa were dreadful generally but took their chances where as we didn’t. He wasn’t impressed with Bogle.

He picked our No.33 as brilliant and thought if we had 10 more of him we’d be up for promotion!!

Just listened to Barrow & he’s completely distanced himself from WJ’s style. He’s talked a good game so let’s hope he delivers. I we go with Bogle up front & not out wide, get plenty of balls to him then we are capable of getting a win.
This will be a nervy match I think..

It isn’t Joyce who makes mistakes on the field or fail to pass to someone in the same shirt. The players are definitely to blame also.

Early to mid season that was definitely the case Egg, but not so much of late for me. A team that looked devoid of ideas which was the managers fault.
