There is a pattern emerging at our club re strikers in that we seem to ruin them… this modern day phenomenon of attack from the back just seems to ruin proven goal scorers.

Not just us jimmy, Villa also appear to do the same.
I’m assuming you’re referring to Hogan NL? I’ve not tabs on his progress so don’t know how he’s getting on.
They’ve picked up over the last few games which is a shame.

So tell me which season we had a worse squad!

14/15 one was pretty inept! With some supposed ex prem players in it.
Carson, Taylor, McLean, Huws, Perch, McMannaman, Watson & Al Habsi all got sold or moved on freebies to Premier or Championship Clubs. Cowie, Tavernier & Waghorn have done alright in Scotland.

I’d suggest that the 14/15 squad was actually pretty good, but somehow got ruined by either Uwe Rostler, or (if he hadn’t lost the dressing room) his sacking. The racism charge against DW, his subsequent ban and resignation, and the hiring of Malky McKay made a bad situation much worse.
So if that squad was “pretty good” why did they get relegated? Poor chairman? Poor manager? Club in turmoil? Maybe, but the players under achieved so for me were poorer than this squad today. And by the way, how many of them players since leaving us have achieved anything of note? And even the most average of players can look good in Scotland..
We know what we are now which is a championship club, with players to suit. This squad is more than capable of staying in this league so it ain’t as bad as 14/15 squad.

Ipswich price is scandalous and why I won’t be bothering. Newcastle ain’t too bad… although not much concessions for kids..

….but offset that against the cost of going down to League One…might have been worth it.

Not many people know the Championship as he does.

I know that, you know that, but unfortunately the people running our football
                club don’t!

Fine line between running a football club and ruining a football club, one letter to be precise!
Neil Warnock was never going to take a job at Wigan.

He lives in Cornwall and his wife is battling breast cancer. Cardiff provide him with a car and driver to take him to and from his house.
Fair point. But Latics have always been tight wads. Even the 3 amigos had to share a car, that old Mondeo they had. We ALWAYS do it on the cheap. And we’ve all had enough of it now.
So what’s the answer then vat? How do we start not doing things on the cheap?

If we had of gone with him in the first place we wouldn’t be in the crap we are. His remark sounds arrogant but it’s true

He’s always been like that, but he’s proven himself time & time again.
I hope he gets his eighth promotion.

We wouldn’t be able to afford McLaren & he’d want a transfer kitty which we aint going to have much of.

Think we need to be lowering our sights on this one. What about them two lads at Lincoln City, Danny & Nicky Cowley. Lincoln seemed to play in the right way from what little I’ve seen of them in the cup.

We’ve got a decent spine in this team that with a decent manager could more than hold their own in this league. It’s criminal that we are in this position.

and that boils down to our transfer system, which is crap! But if a homegrown lad isn’t good enough then he has to be loaned out.

I voted to keep him (for now). I remember what happened last time we sacked two managers in the same season, and arguably that time we had a squad that should have been nowhere near the bottom 3.

This time we have a squad that was largely assembled when we were 3rd tier. Sure, we’ve added to it, but we have added players that other 2nd & 3rd division clubs didn’t really want. We signed Bogle, who was playing non-league football last season. In essence, we have a shit squad, and in all reality, we are going down with or without Joyce.

My prime reason for not sacking him now is financial. Assuming we are going down, and assuming that he will be taking a relegation pay cut like the rest of the squad, then I think he should be given until Nov/Dec of next season to show that with 12 months and two transfer windows under his belt, he can bring us back up and keep us up. If come November we are not around the top 6, then he gets the bullet, but it would be 2.5 years of lower wages as compo rather than 3 years of his current salary.

As the poster above quite rightly says, just because some supporters don’t agree with everything you say doesn’t make them a bellend – a very Orwell-esque point of view!

“I voted to keep him (for now)”. I didnt see that option on the poll.

The squad we have is more than capable of staying in this league, the poster above summed it up….If Joyce was to go today it would lift the gloom from the players and fans, and with nine games to go we would still have a fighting chance of staying up!
We don’t have a shit squad, it’s pretty good actually. They’re just poorly managed at the mo.
If u don’t think we have a shit squad then you are totally deluded. Worst squad for over 15 years!
We need to search for a manager with a track record and play our own players without all the loanees. Why is Flores at Blackpool? Surely he can offer as much if not more than Weir.

Yes, let’s hope he’s gone by 10:00am in the morning.

Got an e:mail from a Blackpool fan during midweek; he wants to thank Wigan for Jordan Flores !!! Enough said.
I haven’t seen a lot of Flores, but what I did see was he’s not quite up to Championship level. So he isn’t our saviour, IMO.
