Sorry – struggling to understand your point here, other than Wigan had less time to recover from a 12 point deduction than Derby have. However it could be argued that Derby have tried for over a year of playing behind closed doors to stave this off, whilst the money launderers didnt even give it a month to fund the latics before walking away and sending in the chuckle brothers to asset strip.

It just does not seem right ,even now .You seem to be supporting Derby even though they have committed a variety of offences over a number of years and now have virtually a whole season to claw back the points deficit ,the EFL have gone out of their way to protect them.We almost did it as I say with just six games to save ourselves with no help from the EFL.

How come the EFL waited until we had secured safety then deducted the points that relegated us yet have said Derby will get 12 points on entering administration. So they could get bought out and have the games to pull the 12 points back. I thought the rule was if you get relegated then the points are deducted the following season. Seems to me that everything is being done to try and keep Derby in the Championship yet the EFL couldnt relegate us quick enough. Derby are 16th and could easily go down anyway so the bloody rules should be stuck to.

You appealed and that was only heard and confirmed at the end of July 2020.

The rules on points deductions rolling over for next season only come into play when a club who have already been relegated go into administration. I remember Leeds pulling that stunt midway through their final game when they were about to be relegated on the pitch. In terms of Derby, they have 40 games left to pick up those 12 points, so applying the punishment now is the correct course of action.

We had six games left to play when the points were deducted !

We have still got the new lads Bennett and Kerr to make an appearance yet.Things are looking good but let’s keep our feet on the ground and keep picking up points. Up the tics !

The EFL wanted to have a salary cap in Divisions one and two but the real problem is in the Championship. Spending is out of control with clubs chasing the Premiership dream .Then you have clubs like West Brom ,Norwich and Fulham who are happy being yo yo clubs picking up the parachute money. I obviously want us to get promoted but I also worry about how we can stay at that level within a strict budget.

What’s this if it changes hands , it is never going to happen. It always has been and always will be Wigan Athletics stadium.

Taken from the “About Us” page of CL:

Cockney Latic is run by, written by and read by Latics fans and football fans from all over the world.

If Bickymon had his way it would read:

“Cockney Latic is run by, written by and read by Latics fans as long as they have a deep-rooted hatred of Wigan Rugby and any other football club. You may only post here about WAFC and anti-Wigan Warriors. All other opinions will result in instant bans”

Thank fuck you are in charge of nothing apart from your own bowel movements fella.

It’s no different to any other forum ,take a look at Sunderlands. Is it any wonder Latics fans are fuming with Wigan Warriors .The actions of your owner ,had he succeeded , could well have condemned Wigan Athletic to the history books. Rather than criticise this forum Warriors fans should acknowledge your owner was in the wrong. Maybe then we can move forward with a more cordial relationship.

It’s a bit like treading on ‘egg’shells on here ,you have to be careful what you say. I think Mr Leneghen has a lot of explaining to do.Three attempts to buy the stadium and training ground.Talk about kicking us when we are down. Had he succeeded that would probably have signalled the end for us. It’s difficult to see a way forward with both clubs working together. The promise to install all blue seats at the stadium by our Chairman I strongly suspect is because the rent increase talks are not going well with the Rugby. I also don’t like the comment Leneghen made about you don’t know what’s going to happen in the future , it comes across as a veiled threat that they will try again to buy the stadium from under our noses if the opportunity presents itself.

The first post mentions it a little and knowing what went on at the time, there are pieces missing.

Yes he tried to buy the stadium (to protect his investment) but he also tried to find a buyer for the football club he just wasn’t it because he didn’t want it.

I hear what your saying Egg but it does not ring true. Why would he try and find a buyer for Latics ? That was the admins job and Latics were a lot more attractive proposition with the stadium and training ground as part of the package . Splitting them up would have signalled the death knell , even the admin realised this. I think he saw an opportunity to purchase the stadium at a knock down price. Thankfully ,it did not happen.

He can’t afford to run the stadium on his own and didn’t want to. Yes he wanted control of it but he still wanted the football club to play there.

I know I’ll never convince anybody any different but he didn’t want WAFC to go bust.

He might not have wanted Wigan Ath to go bust but he wanted control of the stadium which whether he liked it or not would have almost certainly liquidated Wigan Athletic .He should never have tried to buy the stadium separately. If he could not find the resources to buy all the assets he should not have got involved. The admin made it clear they were not splitting up any more assets after the sale of Euxton training ground and Sharpies chippy . I think his involvement prolonged the whole process.

Yes was in response to how seemingly I can’t be a latics fan because i’m a rugby fan

Egg ,if you had to nail your colours to the mast which would it be ?

Then you wonder why alot of us left cockney latics ,now run by wurriors fans even a sunderland fan come on jayt get it sorted never know
When its been cleaned up some of us might return
That leneghan knew what he was doing dont bullshit saying he only wanted to save the football club ,there was a triangle set against the latics
Leneghan , council, nandy all wanted one thing the stadium to be owned by laneghan a rugby shrine
And they didnt get their way in the end and oh how it pissed off Leneghan council and nandy
Now start paying a decent and fair rent in stead of sponging off the latics owners
And if you dont like it then there is always boltons stadium im sure you would be welcome there
But jayt come on get a grip sort this cockney latics site out get shut of the eggs a sunderland lot destroying this site

Bicky ,don’t put me in that bracket. No interest in Wigan Warriors or Rugby League for that matter. First Latics match 1965 been hooked ever since.

Respect to Leneghen for trying to organise a consortium but he should have left it at that.Splitting the assets of Wigan Athletic was a crazy idea and there were absolutely no advantages for Latics in doing so it was only beneficial to Wigan Warriors ,we would never have been sold. I am sorry ,I don’t hate the bloke but he was wrong , I do agree that the Whelan family did next to nothing in our hour of need.

No one is saying Leneghen is to blame for past misdemeanours and if he made a genuine attempt to purchase Wigan Athletic ,with a consortium of local business men ,he would have gained the respect of the fans. His big mistake was having realised he could not raise the necessary funds he tried to purchase just the stadium which whether he likes it or not would have almost certainly signalled the end for Wigan Athletic. I am just thankful the admin realised the importance of it and refused to budge.

This is where it does not make sense Egg. You say both were involved in trying to save the club but neither wanted to own it outright. If they then purchase the stadium on its own it would mean the club is virtually unsellable so in effect they were not interested in trying to save the club.
