We’ve only played 6 games. Why are people panicking. Give GC a few more games to find his ideal team as he did last season. As i have said many times, this season is all about consolidation – meaning i would be happy finishing 4th from bottom.

This season is all about consolidation anyway. But lets not get too far ahead yet.

Bickymon, i too hate anything rugby related, especially when it comes to the mighty W W. Like you, i suffered all kinds of abuse for being a latics fan. It didnt help with my primary school being RIGHT next door to central park. Things improved slightly when we merged with st johns & one of the teachers from there was a latics fan. I was in his form for my last year of primary & we always talked about latics.

It never improved at high school until i went to deanery, where i met a few latics fans. (Between 85 – 88). Gradually things improved when i started work. But it is NOW in the present day where it seems to be acceptable to support latics as the town appears to be divided now, apart from those who choose to glory hunt.

As i say, i totally detest the rugby but will not discuss them on here, as this is a forum for fans of WAFC to discuss issues regarding said club.

As i said we should all just ignore him/her & not even reply to any comments they post.

You may wish to have a look on Vital. There’s no anti-rugby posts – in fact there’s no rugby posts whatsoever.

There’s also a very comprehensive list of rules for posting – one rule in particular caught my eye:

3 – This is a forum for discussion. That means most of the time, most of you won’t agree. Most people will debate the issue in hand as befits a discussion forum don’t make your threads personal. If you are unable to reply without making a personal comment about somebody’s belief then don’t reply and save us all the favour of having to read it. You can ‘attack’ a fellow members’ point of view, you cannot attack them for having that view.

Sadly this is where Bullitt (and others) fail. They cannot accept anyone else’s point of view and take to shouting, personal insults, name calling & comments bordering on the libellous in an attempt to shut down any alternative view.

I commend GL for his stance and his very eloquent way of explaining the role of a moderator. The easy option would have been to ban me, but as I have not subjected anyone to a vicious and personal attack, then all that action would have done was to create a site with a stance similar to North Korea.

For those of you who wish to discuss football matters with me, then I am happy to debate them till the cows come home, but please do not bring rugby into the thread. I maintain my stance that even though I do follow Wigan Warriors, I have never personally started a rugby-related thread on this site. I have no need to – I know most of you either couldn’t care less or passionately hate the sport, so to start a thread would make me a troll. All I do is defend my club using facts, links and a degree of respect equal to the person I am debating with. If you debate with me as an adult, then you’ll find my responses are far different than those who can offer nothing better than “knob”, “die”, “fck off” or any other immature response.

Bullit’s gone, and I for one wont shed a tear. Check his posting history and you’ll see that all he’s done in the last 8 months is snipe, sneer, insult and belittle. I doubt he’d last a week over on vital with that attitude.

I look forward to continuing to debate football-related topics with you in an adult fashion for a while yet….

Mutty, I have read your posts for some time & have never personally replied to you or your posts. But, on this one time i feel i must.

You say you support wigan warriors & sunderland. May i ask (bearing in mind the 2 teams you support) why you are on this forum in the first place. Unless i’m mistaken, this forum is for supporters of wigan athletic who come on here to discuss issues surrounding that football club.

Now whilst i can’t speak for any other member on this forum, i for one do not sign up to a sunderland, west ham, cardiff city, ipswich town, blackpool, hartlepool utd etc, etc forum because those said clubs mean nothing to me. Nor would i sign up to those forums to add my 2 pennys worth on their club or fans, & definitely not to wind people up.

Might i suggest to all members of this forum, that whenever a true supporter of WAFC comes on this forum to discuss issues related to our football club, that when we get rudely interupted from a certain member who has no connection to this football club whatsoever, we just simply ignore all his/her posts & continue with our discussions. I urge all members to not even reply to this person whatsoever – even when this person starts a new topic. Just simply ignore them completely. The reason why this person is still here is because we continue to reply to his/her comments. & the reason why we have had members banned is because this person is very good at winding people up, resulting in them getting that wound up they resort to foul language.

As i said earlier. Ignore them!!

A very good read. DS really does have this club at his heart.

Personally i think it does not matter what the formation is, as i have at times been bored by watching us play 442, just as much so when watching 433, 532, 352 etc.. However, when we UP the tempo during games, i believe we are a very exciting team to watch. Obviously just my opinion.

Ah the good old Wembley Trophy ball, that was orange was it not?.

Indeed it was!

in reply to: Orange ball #150548
That’s before my time, but remember us playing Bournemouth at SP in 87 (week before Leeds FA cup?)
…snowed and game ended up being abandoned after about an hour..orange ball might have been used then.

I remember one game where we won 3 – 0, the snow was quite bad, the game went ahead & was played with a white ball

in reply to: How Long Before “Bottom Four Bob” #150505
How many, watching England bore the living shite out of us last night thought Roberto Martinez? It seems that passing the ball to death is the only way these days. New manager same old pedestrian slow tactics. Kane isolated no service now where have I seen that before?.Can anyone honestly say that the game excites them today? Cant wait for the day that 4 4 2 makes a comeback and this lone striker bollocks disappears up its own arse.

Modern football is played to avoid defeat as opposed to playing to win.

No thanks, very grateful for the FA cup win, but not much else. :(

What about the wonderful wins over man utd, arsenal & chelsea.
After how many attempts?
Yes but he did achieve what jewell, bruce or hutchings couldn’t.

I for one certainley think we have a stronger line up now.

Out of the four players we have let go permanently, only Huws was anything like good enough for this league and he didn’t want to play for us anyway and won’t be missed.

Pearce was half decent, but am sure the likes of Buxton,Warnock and Burke (WHU loanee) are far better than he was. Chow and Nicholls were not good enough and have also been replaced by better players.

Chow, or Powell ??? Nicholls or Bogdan ??? its not hard to choose is it?

We have loaned out a further eight, so we do still own them, but there’s not many there with much first experience at this level and have all been replaced by more experieced and arguably better players.

We may not have signed any superstars, but overall we have got a much stronger squad. Our fringe players and younsters have been loaned out and will come back stronger and more experienced and the likes of Taylor and Odelusi are at least being paid by someone else while their contracts run down.

Overall I think there are a lot of positives and very few negatives.

The season starts now as David Sharpe has said. C’mon Wigan!!!
