To be fair we were in this situation last season with a completely brand new team. This season seems no different. This season is about consolidation in this league. If we finish one place above the relegation places, i for one will be content, then we can build for the future. The trouble with some fans on here is they want a quickfix return to the premier league.

Sorry guys, but it wont happen this season.

Hang on a mo Runcorn didnt we have the same like like posts this time last year, regarding consolidation and building for the future?

Why do we go through the same process over and over again, other clubs our size manage to consolidate others don’t i would put us in the “others dont” category at the minute!
Yes indeed we did. We brought in a load of new players who needed time to gel & get to know one another. However, the difference this season is we are in a much harder & tougher league & that is why consolidation will be fine for me personally. As fans we all have different expectations of what we want from our club. There are those who are realistic. Those who are optimistic & those who are negative.

Last season we exceeded expectation IMO & where some were prepared to accept & expect another season in league 1, we end up going on a tremendous run that did not just end up with promotion, but going up as champions.

Realistically, consolidation is the aim this season. GC has “turfed out” those he thinks are not suitable for this level & brought in those he thinks are. Lets see where we are by the end of october, maybe november when the team/players have hopefully started to gel & we might have an indication for our league position come may.

I’ve just got back from the game. Yes i agree it was a poor performance, shambolic at times. But, i still say give the lads a chance. It is a massive step up from league 1. We were in a similar position this time last season & slowly crept up. Now whilst im not expecting the same this season, ie promotion, just give the lads time. Too early to start pushing panic buttons just yet.

    You are joking!
After today we should be hitting the panic button, Caldwell will keep justifying his shite signings by shuffling other players out of position, take Max for instance he played wing back today just like Perkins did two weeks ago is Max the next one left out to make way for Caldwells atrocious signings?

Morgan one yellow card away from a ban i think,God help us if we pair Buxton and Burn together.
Bloody cricket score coming our way before long!
Well im not laughing bullitt & apologies if my post came across as a joke.

Like yourself i was surprised power was playing at RWB. Perhaps in the eyes of the manager, he was the best option. Maybe thats why caldwell is trying to sign a RB &/or RWB (& please a STRIKER!!!!)

I was also surprised he took off both gilbey & mcdonald, who i thought were both having good games, when IMO he should have took off powell who was becoming a liability.

But, as i say, there is no need to press the panic button.

Apologies if my post came across as a joke. I didnt think i was joking, but if i provided a bit of humour after a poor performance (& i admit it was today), then all the better.

I too was surprised to see power at RWB, but if there is no one else to play in that position, then its play whoever the manager thinks is the best suited. Yes caldwell got it wrong & thats why he is trying to sign a RB or RWB, & hopefully, another striker.

But, as i say, WAY too early to start pressing panic buttons – YET!!!!
