I would have been slightly gutted had we have lost last night. I appreciate we were playing a decent & well organised team, but overall, we were the better team IMO. Just watched the goals again this morning on SSN. Whilst bogdan redeems himself with the penalty save, regardless of whether or not birmingham players were inside the box, the follow up was a sloppy goal to concede.
But credit to the lads for the way they battled & earned a well deserved draw, which could have been a victory right at the very end.If first impressions are anything to go by, give me Perkins any day!Whoaa! Give the lad a chance. He only played for about 20 – 25 minutes.
In an ideal world, this would happen, but as has been demonstrated with cup games that cost £10 or £15, folk just wont pay to watch something that they can do without. This is not a swipe at WAFC, but a fact – the folk of Wigan do not have much disposable income, and even if the games were £10, then I doubt many would be tempted (as borne out by cup attendances). For many, watching live sport is not an option any more.
Your ST prices were fantastic value, and the club should be commended for providing such fantastic value. £179 for an adult and a kid to watch 23 games is a great price, yet despite this, less than half the stadium is filled with ST holders.
By charging £20 and £25 for the casual fan, it means the club can then charge visiting supporters that figure. Around 20% of the average attendance this season will be visiting supporters, and if they can be charged £25, it will help keep your ST prices lower. Away fans will not begrudge paying £25 or even £30 at the DW when the likes of Sheff Wed fleece them for £42.
Hang on a moment, i think i might need to make an appointment with the Dr here. But, i am going to agree with you on this one mutty. The only difference i would make is charge the away supporters £25, but charge home fans £15 – £20.
Happens everywhere in plenty of sports, no issue with it.The actual price should be lowered though.
£10 for the crappy games like Fulham, Rotherham etc and midweeks
£15 for middle ground like Forest
£20 for the top games like Leeds, Toon, PNE£5 for kids every game.
Totally agree with that egg. I suggest you send your list of prices to mr sharpe. Those kind of prices might attract an extra 2000 – 4000.
I think the logic behind the matchday pricing is so we can guarantee a pay day when Leeds, Newcastle etc come to town with their 5000.I wouldn’t think we’d get 5000 extras in even if it was a tenner.
This is what my brain is telling me anyway.
I see where you are coming from tez, but i think reduce the price & it might make people want to come. Imagine if you will a young nipper of around 4 who has just got into football. He/she begs his dad/mum to take him/her to the game. Parent gives in (as us parents do) & turns up on the day – not knowing about the £2 extra charge, with what he/she thinks is the right money, but is turned away because they are short of cash. Or, it means that little jonny/jenny goes without their pop & crisps when watching the game.
IMO scrap this £2 charge, reduce the price of tickets & get people into the ground.
What i want to know is where have all those who turned up on the final day of last season gone!!!!pay on the day now has a 2 quid charge total bllx one lad turned up had 25 quid but was turned away …the lad said they wouldnt back down so he fked off…now that helps if trueI hope that wasnt true. We want to attract fans not turn ’em away. Bet he’s worked hard all week, fancies watching a game, turns up at the DW full of excitement then gets turned away.
Mr sharpe. I hope you take note.
Ps; £25 or £27 is way too steep. Charge £15 – 20 & you’ll get a lot more on.
He hasn’t been brought in to sit on the bench, the key question is who is going to make way for MacDonald? My guess would be perkins.
The transfer deadline for august IMO should be august 1st. Still gives teams time even in the FL’s to assemble a squad.
In gary we do indeed trust. We had the same start this time last year. Keep the faith!!
If this is the case im not sure why he was signed in the first place. When we signed him in january i thought he was going to be perkins replacement for when we got promoted. I think it was JR who said perkins was off the pace the other day. But, we’ll see.
Yes indeed burnley won promtions with said tactics & also got relegated twice with said tactics, & i have a feeling they will be relegated again. Leicester was a one off & i personally can’t see them doing well in the CL with said tactics.
I agree with you that caldwell will have learned fast after yesterday. It was one of the things that impressed me so much about him last season, whereas a certain predecessor would have continued using his same tactics & why he was eventually sacked.
What i dont understand about yesterday was in after taking grigg off, going completely defensive. Was davies injured yesterday? If not a like for like substitution should have occurred to keep the momentum going. Only go defensive in the last 5 – 10 mins.
But to be fair we lost by a cruel deflection & before the start of the game, i would have settled for a good away point.
I get what you’re saying donny re: ellington & roberts, but that was over 10 years ago & football has since changed & moved on tatically.
Your point egg, is??????
Is any of this doom and gloom really neccessary? This time last year we had just lost 2-0 at Coventry and looked what happened after that.
We have scored on the opening day, so that must be a positive, c’mon.
But Horc, We only 45 games left to save our season :([/quote]
Flash! Ah ah. Saviour of the universe.
It all went pear shaped when we took off a half fit grigg & defended for 45 mins. History shows that we never get off to a good start on the opening day.
I believe at this early stage (& has many have said), we need another decent striker if not 2 to accommodate grigg’s abscence, or when not fully fit like today.
This league is a hell of a lot tougher than when we left it. Lessons will be learned today & fast. In caldwell i personally trust. But of course, im waiting for those who are ready to book that taxi for him.
