Is not singing yet with shit results like that. More points thrown away against rubbing rags.
Five points alone dropped against Doncaster.
Look over your shoulder Gary. A Tuesday win essential now after this pathetic result today.

To quote garswood. FFS donny. Have you seen the other results today. I think all of the top 6 have dropped points today. We have no right to win matches. That loss might just be what we needed. A good old kick up the arse might just be what we need to gain promotion. & have you checked the league table. We are still top.

Is it just me or would anyone else like to see Newcastle and Sunderland go down and Middlesboro go up! :)

    Yes!

If as you say standish he was promised the EFC job around feb/march, that would have been around the same time as our already expected decline from the premier league, but also had just won our place in the FA cup quarter finals. Now im never ever going to dispute our magical day in may. But it would appear he put all his egs in the one basket where the FA cup was concerned to make himself look good for the EFC job & to give deluded scousers false hope of his champions league promise within 3 years.

Like yourself i want our past players, managers etc to do well when they move on. But only when they leave on good terms which doesn’t put the club/team in any manure.

Anyhow standish. I thought you were not posting on here again. You keep coming back, so you must love this thread! ;)

Couldn’t agree more Donny, Mr Jewell was the best ever manager imo.
But I did like Ray Mathias..

Bob seemed to change his tac tics at 28 games when he knew we were in the s***.. The last ten games were always good to watch under Bobs tenure.

Had he have played that way during those 10 games throughout his 3 years, it would have been a pleasure rather than a chore. I am also not disputing that magical, historical day he brought us in may ’13.

But, lets say for arguments sake our 1st season back in the championship was under bobs tenure. He decided to stay for 1 more season out of a loyalty thing to try & get us back up, but failed against QPR in the play-offs. Fine at least he tried to get us up but sadly failed. He would have gone with my blessing. Had he have kept us up in the premier league & turned round saying “Ive taken this club as far as i can, time for a new challenge.” That is also fine in my book.

But, i cant understand how some on here still hold him with high regard after relegating us. & its not an anti martinez rant. I would be saying the same thing had bruce or god forbid jewell relegated us then left at the 1st chance.[/quote]

    * I mean after relegating us then leaving at the 1st opportunity.

If we had beaten Blackpool, Donny,Owdham and Peterborough at home like we should have done then we would be champions now and wouldn’t be frigging about with all these connatations.

Let it go donny. I always remember one of our assemblies at school. Our head of year discussed the “if only” philosophy of life.
For eg, i didnt renew my season ticket last season as i thought i wouldnt be able to get to as many games (due to work) as what i actually have done this season. If only i had have renewed as it would have saved me £20 next season.

Getting back on subject. It would take a major drop in form now to stop us getting promoted. Where the likes of burton & walsall it would seem are starting to get nervy, we on the other hand have come good at the right time. Plus we have strength in depth.

Burton can now get caught by bradford.

Wasnt at the game today due to work, but agreed JR, a fabulous win & as you say this is a team that can score for fun & grind out results when needed.
Well done to GC, the team & to oldham & scunthorpe for helping us out. :)

Yep! We’ll pass em on the way up.

I really don’t give a monkey’s what Martinez has said in the press or whether it is right or wrong.

He’s talking about Everton, not Wigan Athletic, so it doesn’t interest me.

He hasn’t been our manager for three years, and we’ve (well some of us have) moved on.

I’m grateful for the FA Cup. And I’m grateful for the wins against Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Everton, Chelsea, Stoke on the last day of season, the battering of Newcastle at the DW, the win at Blackburn, and the amazing run of games to trigger The Great Escape. I’m I’m also grateful that he was a mentor to Caldwell, and has had an indirect influence on how the team currently play.

But without this thread, I wouldn’t dicuss the virtues of Martinez at all.

And no, I’m not going to post on this thread any longer…

I too am grateful for all those you mentioned. But what he did do was relegate us (fine given our budget, resources etc) then p155ed off. THAT is unforgivable. & how anyone can still hold him with high regard & want him to do well is beyond belief.

    This is absolutely brilliant.

I’ve avoided posting on this thread, so I’m not going to start now

    You just have. ;)

My wife showed me comments by EFC fans yesterday on her Facebook page. Words such as ‘he is a fraud of a manager,’ ‘the guy should be sacked when the new owners take over,’ ‘I can’t take anymore of this tippy-tappy football,’ & the best one, ‘so much for his promise of champions league football.’

I believe there is a vacancy at Valencia.
