I think the lads will be up for it today. Close & hard fought game resulting in a 2 – 1 win for us.
If they need a lift to widnes its only 5 minutes over the bridge for me.
The one in the main picture looks decent. Wife wont let me get one unfortunately
Jees donny & bullit. Last few weeks have seen some brilliant performances with results to boot. One bad performance & suddenly its the play-offs again.
Look if we get promoted, so be it.
If its the play-offs, so be it.
If we do neither & its league 1 football again next season, so be it.Well i just hope the gaffer and players are not thinking this way, we’ve gone from automatic promotion to play offs now we are talking playing in League 1 again next season.
Lets just throw the towel in now and go for a mid table finish, the squad we have and playing to our potential we should be well capable of holding our own in the Championship the hard bit is getting there, GC needs to get tough and stop trying to keep everyone happy, he should know his first eleven by now, its up to the players to prove they are worth a start when given the chance!
On another note, i noticed John Sheridan never stopped organising his team on Saturday, shouting encouragement and talking to his players at every opportunity while Caldwell stood with his hands in his jacket pockets looking lost….Cue Barrow!
As donny said, even caldwell wasnt happy with saturdays performance. I dont think caldwell & the players deliberately went out to play an unattractive & boring 0-0 draw, its just that oldham (who need the points for other reasons) played a way that for them worked & fair play to them.
Yes, this squad of players should get promoted, but it doesnt always work that way. Check the premier league table for evidence.Jees donny & bullit. Last few weeks have seen some brilliant performances with results to boot. One bad performance & suddenly its the play-offs again.

If we do neither & its league 1 football again next season, so be it.That’s a bit negative. We’re still in with a great chance of automatic promotion.Exactly! Long way to go yet. Plenty of points up for grabs. Win on saturday, results go our way & we go 2nd.
Millwall was the auto windscreens final donny. I’d be more worried facing gillingham ;)
I agree with you on that one donny re vukic – done nowt wrong the past few games yet finds himself on the bench.
Yesterday was a poor performance even caldwell has admitted to it. But, poor performances do happen. No team can play well every week – its impossible. I bet people on here have both good & bad days in work. Move on & get ourselves ready for next week.
I wouldn’t say that oldham were better than us at all donny, its just that we couldn’t break them down & fair play to ’em. I agree with you that grigg had no support, but again fair play to oldham for that.
Would have been nice to have won. Would have gone 2nd
Well obviously i would vote “get em out”, but could we survive in that stadium on our own with no rent from our tenants.
Caldwell’s 1st signing will be jordi gomez. I for one will welcome him with open arms if its true.
Yeah he’d be shit hot as the tea lady, one of the slowest and laziest players we had in the premier, that’s why he got fouled so much.
Who said anything about the premier league. He would be decent at championship level.
Says who, Maloney didn’t shine in the championship like quite a few of the others who came down.
Cos maloney & 1 or 2 others didnt give a sh1t once we went down & wanted to leave at first opportunty.
Yup I agree with you …. but …..As only a supporter since 18 Aug 2007 I don’t know what you mean by the ‘old’ ‘tics feeling prior to then, but the feeling I’m getting now is great … good football, players who have a real desire to play the game, enthusiasm to just keep going and a great atmosphere around the ground on match day. There was so much negativity, always a relief when we got at least 1 point and sometimes only a half hearted contribution from players …. I remember Moses v Wolves, it was as if he couldn’t be *rsed. Haven’t seen that yet this season.
Blimey I was just looking at my first ever game, in the sun, and in the team were Sibierski, Laandzaat, Grankvist, Koumas, Fitz Hall, Skoko, and Dave Cotterill. ‘OOO R Yu’??
Ive followed the latics since the 1978/79 season as a 6 year old. Obviously i cannot speak for anyone else but i’ll share with whoever on here what i said to a colleague in work only on friday.
My reason for enjoying this season is not the winning of games (though i am enjoying it), but we have a team this season who play, work & fight for each other. They never know when they are beaten.
What you said about the players yesterday about their enthusiasm etc, takes me back to my first memory of a team who played this same way like the latics team from the 80’s of lowe, newell, jewell, aspinall et al – all young lads who played for each other & with so much passion. The last time i have seen such a team spirit was the championship promotion team of ellington, roberts, mcculloch et al.
This season is a throwback to the good old days of watching latics where i am turning up to games (work permitting) out of pleasure & not a chore like it was for me towards the latter part of our premier league days & especially the last 2 seasons.
It really doesn’t matter to me if we win, lose or draw (mmmmm i’ll rethink that one), but its just great to turn up & watch a game of IMO good, honest football with no jonny big bollox rolling on the floor when he gets tackled.
I say well done to Gary caldwell & graham barrow for assembling a team with so much spirit & desire.

Lostock, i absolutely agree with your last sentence. Same here. Ive been feeling that old latics feeling myself all season.
Why would he come back to a club where the supporters constantly booed him? Not so sure I would, and I think his best days are behind him anyway. That would be his only reason for him not coming back & i wouldnt blame him. But he is a quality player & we could get a good season or 2 from him.
As impressive as we were yesterday we still face a real uphill battle for a top two spot with Burton and Walsall 7/8 points in front if they win their games in hand. We also have to visit both teams.Throughout the season we have been impressive in beating teams outside the top ten but have only won two games against opposition from the top ten as it stands. No doubt this will have to change if we are to have a go at those above.
Yes they indeed have games in hand, but they still need to be won. Burton seem to be going through a wobble at the moment.
