Sorry guys for my repeat posts. Thought my original message hadn’t posted
Because what this thread needs is more posts
One of my favourites ,great CV for promotions and seems to undergo a complete personality change when a game kicks off but he gives 100 per cent and doesn’t stand any nonsense.
I like the way he interviews after a game with his big smile and chuckle even though during a game he looks has a face like thunder and he always sails close to the wind during his post match interviews.
He will be back of that there is no doubt.Spot on, Vince.
When I was stewarding in the tunnel he came with one team (can’t remember who) and was a lovely, charming man before the game. Really pleasant to talk to.
Once the game kicked off though he became almost demented.
But isn’t that what we all want in a manager? An approachable person, but one who kicks every ball during the game and will defend his team to the hilt in the post-match interviews?
I have just been told why he is known as ‘Colin’ ! Never knew that one! ha ha haYou must be the only person interested in football who didn’t :)
I wasn’t in fancy dress down king street cos i was broke down on a chuffing car park just off elland road, waiting for the AA. Only got back at quarter to elevenBe grateful. I know people who were travelling in Yorkshire last night (not Latics related) and had to spend the night in their car.
Just thought I’d bump this –Takes you back to a time when most people seemed happy with our business ;)
Thanks Tez.
I remember posing this question back in the day. Pun intended.
Everyone was more or less happy then but as I suspected the “I knew all along” crew would come crawling out.
Well the offer was there at the time, chaps, to disagree.
Very much the start. You would expect any new Chairman to come from the existing board. Makes sense to me.
The thing is, who is going to buy any of this lot?
People keep saying McManaman may go – well firstly he’s welcome to, he’s adding nothing, but who, if they have watched him recently, is going to take him from a club second from the bottom of the Championship?
And other players the same – names are mentioned that they will be snapped up if they leave. No they won’t.
Maybe the players need to realise that.
Nowt to do with the players – who can play under these formations and tactics – disgusting to set up like that today at home against them menNo. They are professional footballers. They aren’t doing even the basics right (pass to your own man, hit the target etc). No matter what the tactics are they should be doing better. Tactics don’t limit the ability to kick a ball in the right direction.
I thought this had endedNever

Oi, Eggy. That’s the one I found too :)
I suppose 1914 prices is too much to hope for? ;) :P
It does seem surprising that their was no trouble but back then hooliganism only seemed to occur between like minded souls and respect was shown to the ordinary supporter who just wanted to watch the football.
As a kid of 4-14 through the 80’s that wasn’t my experience of football hooliganism at all during that period

The truth is somewhere between both. You could get caught up in it, but in the main like faced like, and if one lot were running down the street then stepping to one side standing still usually meant the hooligans ran past. Wearing colours obviously was out though, and you still needed to be alert.
In my Liverpool supporting days I only got “involved” in anything twice – once as we came out of Maine Road a guy who was on our coach, in full red scarf etc, latched on to me saying loudly “Ar eye la that was the gear, wasn it?” Of course he attracted the attention of the local morons who punched him and then turned to me and said “give us your wallet”. I swung a fist at his face, connected (more of a slap than a punch), and ran. The funny thing was I remember his reaction. He just stood there stunned and said “You…you…you…fool”. Honestly.
The other time was me and my mate walking down the road to Leeds Road Huddersfield when the local hardnut swiped my mate on the back of his head and said “come on then”. My mate was a 6 foot tall, 16 stone Welshman. He looked at this guy, and said “No” and we walked on. Terrier fan looked a right prat, and I think his mates laughed at him.
How many tickets have we sold for Horwich? Booked mine last night.
Well that’s 1 at least then :)
The clubs in enough Sh!te as it is at the moment without stupid comments like that.
I asked a genuine question FFS.
Right – well first of all you obviously have never seen smiley emoticons before.
Secondly what on earth has the club’s current position got to do with my or anyone else’s response on a message board.
Thirdly – as JR correctly says – how on Earth would we know? If you want to know ask the ticket office.
And fourth – so what? What if we have just sold 3, or have sold 300, or 3,000? We will have as many as we have. I really fail to see why you’re getting so worked up.
