I think all of this is just barmy
I understand the papers using this as a story – they’ve got to fill the gap to the Euros somehow. But why are we, as Latics fans, even giving this credence?
Look at the final league table.
Wigan finished 15th, Villa finished below us at 16th.
Why on Earth would he want to go to Villa?
embarrassed… when 1 Wolves chubby ran 500 Wiganers
“ran” 500 Wiganers? What era are you from?
There were a load of kids who stupidly taunted Wolves. Shouldn’t have happened, but THEY WERE KIDS.
One numb-nut from their end hurls through the cordon – of course kids are going to run away. They’re not “a firm” (is that the right phrase?) you know. No need to feel embarrassed that “our fans were ‘run’ by 1 away fan.
He then got what was to be expected – have a read of this thread and see what Wolves fans think of him:
Wolves Message BoardI provide a few quotes (from Wolves fans):
“What a moronic loser that guy is! Pity the kicking didn’t last a lot longer, he’s too fat to feel anything anyway. All that blubber would have cushioned the blows!”
“What an absolute prat – nice to see he got the kicking he deserved”
“I’ve never seen him, the guy is a psycho”Once again to make my disapproval of what happened absolutely clear – our kids should not have even been allowed to get anywhere near their fans to taunt and/or I would have hoped we had known enough hard times ourselves not to rub anyone else’s noses in it – the steward line should have moved forward to push the kids back to the centre line. But if this ‘brave’ guy wants to take on kids and gets pleasure from seeing them run away (and can brag how he did it) then when others take retribution he’s only got himself to blame.
Having said that – as his picture is now clearly in the papers I think he can expect a ban by Wolves. Verbal provocation never condones physical violence.
They have to fill the pages with something
Try pm-ing unless you want us all to come along ;)
What about go to the bar 8 mins before half time !!I’m not going later than usual for anyone ;)
I have to admit I’m watching the rugby today, shouting for Saints though and I noticed the North Stand is not even being used. Surely there must be a problem with the Stand as Wigan Rugby fill the ground every week. And looking round the ground none of the other Stands are full, surely this can’t be because nobody gives a flyer???There’s a wedding or something in the Marquee
Drove along Warrington Road near Sainsburys this morning and noticed the matrix sign showing a warning that there is a football match tomorrow, and to expect some delays.
No mention of the rugby game. ;)
All joking aside, and all rivalries aside, we should be proud as a town if we can get two 20,000+ crowds in the same weekend in a recession when the battle for the Premeirship title will be on TV all Sunday afternoon for the plastic Mancs to watch.
It’s strange actually, because when my daughter was looking for a venue for her wedding a few years ago we considered the JJB, but as she was getting married on a Friday they couldn’t guarantee that if there was a match they wouldn’t have to cancel the booking.
We went elsewhere.

I was going to write exactly the same.
Haworth left under a cloud, but he knew where the goal was (if he didn’t have to think about it and just acted instinctively) and scored quite a few important ones for us, and Redfearn was OK.
Sorry if this has been posted on another thread:
Can’t we just applaud 8 times?
You only have to look at Portsmouth to know the answer to that question.
But as said before, they are not the only option.
What I would like to see is us carry on this run of form to mid-table stability by the time the FA Cup comes, and have a go at getting a good run going in that. It wouldn’t be an impossible thing for us to win – teams outside the Elite Group (I hesitate to say “Top4” as it’s now 5 or 6) have got to the Final, and tbh getting to the semi-final would mean we get a trip to New Wembley.
Alternatively, let’s take the League Cup seriously.
…. and sorry that’s not one word.
In one of those Facebook friend of a friend of a friend comment, I came across a Wolves fan saying “well, let’s drag Wigan down with us”.
His other chums gently pointed out to him that he was a game too late. :P
