I actually think it’s the other way around.
In private he can (and should) tell him what his failings are – but support him in public.
No, I don’t.
But I’m correcting the fact that people are claiming Roberto said he was as good as Messi. He didn’t.
To be fair he never said he was as good as Messi.
He said he COULD be good enough to play for Argentina alongside Messi.
goodpost goodpost
That Messi bloke’s not a bad player either, is he? goodpost
Just got back from my mate’s funeral too. He fell off the roof while fixing the TV aerial.
It was a sad service, but the reception was brilliant.
‘the reason we dont put crosses is in the box is so we dont give the opposition a chance to win the ball back’surely he cannot have said this, never in a million years – the only conclusion I can make is the person quoting this statement may well have had too many sherberts and is wildly mistaken / pissed
I wasn’t able to go myself, so maybe someone can answer thi sbetter than I can, but I suspect that was correct.
When we met with him a few months ago he was asked why we didn’t just go for it and hoof it forward when we’re losing by a single goal.
He replied that he wanted us to keep control and hoofing it forward loses that control. Now I don’t know exactly how he phrased it the other night but I suspect that is his thinking, but whether he meant that we should never put crosses in I doubt. I think he was putting forward his thinking that while we have control we have a chance to create something (I know, I know – you need to have the quality to do that) rather than leave it to Luck.
Probably he said something like that, but perhaps not quite as it seems, ie we will never cross the ball in.
Olympic event….discus.. :dry:Whoooossshhhh!
Thought’s anyone?
Don’t you know you’re supposed to say “discuss”?
And if he had had a quiet word then everyone on here (bar a few) would be saying that he was burying his head in the sand, can’t he see there are problems etc etc.
He’s flagging up that he isn’t happy (maybe to us, the supporters) with the way we played, and is doing something about it. But he’s prefacing it that sacking the manager now at this point in the season will achieve nothing.
Those of you who were at the infamous Bristol Rovers game will remember that it was incredibly difficult for us. When players are sent off teams don’t leave holes in the defence, but shore it up. Particularly when they are 2-0 up.
With 11 men they may well have gone looking for more, and if we had managed to score maybe things would have changed. As it was when they went down to 10 men they packed the defence and there was no way through. I’m not saying we didn’t play absolutely dire, but it became a no chance situation.
So, actually, I think Roberto (and old guy in stand) were probably correct.
My Mrs reckons you cant get steak puddings in Liverpool which I don’t believe for one minute !!She’s wrong Phil – but I’ll leave it to you to tell her
Is there any real reason in mentioning our so called “giant” neighbours at the DW stadium.
I don’t usually bother too much about articles marrying the two together, but I see mo real reason for rugby league to hijack a footballing piece of journalism.
I actually read it as being critical of our neighbours. They never said “giant”, they never said we were a rugby town, they purely blamed rugby for messing up the pitch. Something lots on here do all the time
Liverpool are without doubt the media darlings why????????????
Mass hysteria when they ‘win’ a minor domestic trophy and Dalglish is surely the luckiest manager that ever drew breath.Because the Press are scared of negative comments in the face of, as you say, mass hysteria response and campaigns to ban X from the shops and for no-one to buy it.
A few seasons back Figueroa slung some long throws into the box, but we never do now – maybe worth a shot occasionally?
