That did start me wondering whether he has any recent transfer market experience? As I’m guessing at Utd he was just a coach and got his players handed to him? If so we are well and truly fooked.
We have just got in a new head of player recruitment, who I suspect has a fair bit of experience. A meeting last week between him, Joyce and Jonathan Jackson to identify requirements for January. (source – last night’s programme)
Newcastle are top of the table for a reason, and Villa had millions of poundsworth on the bench. We were unlucky not to get a point at Villa, and I think 2-0 tonight was harsh.
The season will not be defined by these two games. Our season will be defined by the next two games. Win them and we’re on a roll. Lose them and we’re going down. Get any number of points in between and we have a fight on our hands.
Don’t give up teh cause just yet.

1 up front argument will rage on but at least 1 striker should actually be a striker……
Oh whatever mate. Talking cauliflower cheese you buddy. Get gone.[/quote]
Anyone tried Google translate?
You do all realise that a slow trickle through to the keeper counts as a shot on target, while a razzler that hits the bar or just skims the post is off target?
I wouldn’t get too hung up about stats. Stats I think are ruining the game, as players are being judged by sat navs instead of managers just watching and recognising natural talent.i think joyce is doing best he can with what he has trying to limit the damage untill january
then he can bring in his own players be it loan from manureExactly.
It’s the players who are poor not the system. The system is trying to do the best with the squad we have.
The problem with playing two up front is that it weakens the midfield (the extra striker has to come from somewhere), who then are over-run. It then doesn’t matter how many strikers you have if the ball doesn’t get to them. Midfield is over-run, and the defence is put under pressure.
Our defence does seem to have improved, with everyone seeming to know what their job is – even if they don’t always manage to actually do it.
Joyce needs time to get his own players in who can understand what he wants them to do.To be honest I don’t think Celebrity Glad is a reliable source of info about salaries.
Well that is very winnable.Absolutely – and if we don’t win it then it won’t be any disgrace. A good draw overall.
In defence of Coyle he had the hardest of starts to a job. Relegation from the Greed League. A virtually new squad. Lots of games including Euro League. The football was no worse than Caldwell’s this year and his squad he brought in reached the cup semi final and play offs with Uses help. But week on week you could see the squad getting less fit.
No matter what he started with he ended up with a poor unfit squad. Not really. It’s the other way round.
It can be used to provide a “sterile area” to keep fans away from the gates, so they can’t rush the pitch, but once in place can be sold as advertising spaceNetting at the front?
Or 1 point for 0-0, 2 points for a score draw
Admin, can you please delete this tripe.1. Why? It’s football related.
2. It was posted by a moderator.Heard at Huddersfield (where he ran working mens club) last night that he hung himself. someone said the vicar said it at the funeral
Anyone else heard thisYes
“The service at St Peter’s was led by the Vicar of Lindley, Rev Rachel Firth and Lay Reader Jenna Codd.
Rachel said Bobby had been many things to many people. She said: “He was Bob to his family, a brother and an uncle, a friend and a neighbour, a drinking buddy and a football hero.”
She said his death “happened at the wrong time and in the wrong way. He has ended his own life.”
Rachel was anxious to add that there was no ‘stigma’ to what he had done and added that “others might seek help from the depression that overwhelmed Bob. There is great grief and great loss.””
Bit of a Billy but with some great natural talent. Not the greatest ever player but head and shoulders above most of what we have now.Yes, he has talent – but (1) when he wants to, and (2) was clearly a disruptive element in the dressing room.
Talent does not excuse everything/anything.
