I don’t think our pricing policy is in issue. I am not sure we could lower them more.

The issue under debate though was whether Leeds were ripping us at Wigan off. The answer is “no” – they are ripping their own fans off, as they have published a price plan for their fans which to us looks eye-watering. Prices for visitors follow that plan.

But while at least 22,000 (current average) pay £35, the club will charge it. You have to remember too there is a fair bit of discontent about Cellini, so with maybe a change in approach (new owner?), and/oran upturn in performance on the pitch, Leeds fans will flock in willing to pay £35. Remember, these people think they are a big club, and so will pay “big club” prices.

And can we reciprocate high prices for them when Leeds visit? Simple answer is “no”.

And you could guarantee that 35,000 would flock in week in, week out? As Horc said- if 22,000 are willing to pay it, then with a winning streak that number would increase anyway. Paying £35 a time.
And you do know that food and beer outlets are franchises, don’t you?
And the profit on programme sales is minimal.
But hey ho. I must be thick.

£20×35,000 and £35×22,000 come out to remarkably similar numbers, but the outlay for stewarding, ticket staff etc will rise with bigger crowds.

At Carrow Road the other week I saw a guy with “Norwich City” tattooed on his fingers

Unfortunately we as a Club cannot do anything about. We, like all Clubs, publish prices at the beginning of the season and we have to stick to them.

The argument is that outside the Premier League, gate receipts are much bigger percentage of the clubs income. So prices have to be in line with operating costs.

Leeds, having been outside the Premier League for so long still have high costs and not many ways to get the cash in to cover them.

With all due respect thats a lot of cobblers….

Charge and get 800 punters (if they are lucky).

              OR

Charge £20 and get 3000+ punters.

Its not rocket science, these idiots that set prices are just plain thick.[/quote]

Leeds’ average attendance is 22,000+. Lowering the prices would lose them more money than extra clicks through the turnstiles.
Their pricing structure is nothing at all with getting more away fans in – they don’t need them. It’s about setting a price that home fans will pay in sufficient numbers.

Maybe. But if they won’t listen, if they want to live for the moment, then there’s little clubs can do. And who would advise a journeyman like Dean? Maybe the PFA should be doing more?

Don’t go and hopefully young dave and jj will return the favour to them next May with similar prices .

People keep saying this. We can’t. It’s not allowed. Clubs (a) cannot charge away fans more than home fans, and (b) have to charge the same as similar accomodation provided for home fans.

Leeds were able to charge £35 because that’s what their home fans pay in that stand. To be honest it’s them you should feel sorry for, as they are the ones being ripped off week in week out, but that’s their battle. They still pay it.

Away fan revenue is not a big factor in club financing, so they aren’t bumping up prices just to annoy the members of Cockney Latic messageboard. They are their prices, and we have to charge our prices. No argument.

As has been said – if you don’t like the prices, then don’t pay them.

34.2.5 Each Club shall, not later than 30 June prior to the commencement of the following Season, provide to The League a ground/zone plan together with associated ticket prices (‘Pricing Plan’). The Pricing Plan shall be accompanied by the Club’s ground registration form.

34.2.6 The League shall provide copies of each Pricing Plan to all other Clubs within the relevant Division. For the avoidance of doubt this will only be done once all Pricing Plans have been received for the relevant Division.

34.2.7 A Club may not depart from the Pricing Plan without the prior consent of the relevant Away Club. In the event that the Home Club and Away Club are unable to reach agreement the dispute shall be referred to The League whose decision shall be final and binding.

34.2.8 No Club shall charge higher admission prices for visiting supporters for accommodation that is ranked as comparable with or inferior to that used by supporters of the Home Club in the same or next highest ranked accommodation. For the purposes of this Regulation, accommodation shall be allocated a ranking as indicated by the table below (where 1 represents the best available and 6 the lowest) having

To be honest im fuming at this.

WTF gives some newspaper the right to see the English National Manager lose his job, just as we have someone of our own nationality and a belly full of fire.

I don’t particularly like the guy due to his past links, however I think he would have given this England team the kick up the arse they need and looked forward to seeing what he could do.

The paper clearly knew that as a result of their “undercover” operation that he would lose his job – what a great example of how to do your job well, by getting someone else the sack by setting them up behind their back.

Why do this now, knowing he has only just started ?

To me, is just pure evil and I actually do feel sorry for the guy, all he has done has offered his opinion and advice, he has not been paid and has spoken just like I would to someone when not in the office.

He has been an idiot yes, naïve yes, but deserve the sack ? No ..

Has anyone condemned the newspaper for their behavior ?

An irrelevant argument. That’s a completely separate issue. Are you really saying that corruption is OK, and we should just keep looking away if it comes to our notice?

The Telegraph (and trust me, I hate them only less than the S*n and the Fail) have obviously been tipped off about large scale corruption in football, and have acted upon it. Whether what they have done is ethical or not is not the point. They have exposed that there are significant people in the game who are open to taking dodgy money.

And the victims of this are us, the paying punters. How are we to know that a game hasn’t been rigged? Unless the game is seen to be well-policed (there will always be the odd dodgy character) and in general played honestly, then we may as well go and watch WWE.

I hold reservations on the newspaper’s behaviour and methods, but not on their right to investigate thoroughly. But I do condemn Allardyce et al for their avarice that puts the integrity of the game we love into question.

Why am I not surprised to see Cellino makes the list.

He’s got rid of our own Stuart Hayton in the past few days. Maybe he can’t stand having good, honest people round him.

Dream job, because he really wanted to manage England with the St George flag fluttering in his eyes, and Land of Hope and Glory playing in his ears ……

…. or because he saw it as a way to make even more money and boost his commercial credentials?

One thing I’ve not seen mentioned (apologies if someone has) is the possibility of the League2/League 3 divisions being actually a regionalised division – so there’s be PL, Championship, League 1, League 2N, League 2S. Wouldn’t downgrade the leagues as such, provide proper league status to 8 more teams, and really help teams’ finances, as it would avoid Darlington having to play Exeter on a wet Tuesday for example.

Far easier that I go. I have a life as me, not as Garswood Latic. I am a real person, who tried to help this forum along. As the general view seems to be that I have it wrong I’ll get on with being me, supporting my team (or in fact teams if I want to watch my little local club too), and playing with my grandkids. No problem. If you see me anytime come and have a pint (better if you buy :) ) and discuss Latics, or the price of fish. Up the tics.
