I don’t think it’s likely to happen soon – he has to be proven at a higher level.
But I think one day Celtic will come calling, and for me that will be similar to Lee McCulloch wanting to go to Rangers or Leighton Baines to Everton. I would have no problems with it.Good man, JR
We will piss promotion to the Premier League in the next couple of seasons.
I suggest that you’d better do it next season, otherwise you will be competing against three relegated clubs with some serious financial clout and a very big advantage over the rest of the league.
On top of the minimum £100m earned for being in the premier league next year, their parachute payments will be 55% of whatever the parachute payment lump sum is, and bearing in mind the current figure is £64m, then it’ll probably be close to £100m over three years.
That will dwarf the £9.6m you get next season, when yours runs out. £9.6m goes a long way to “smashing” League One, but it will be swallowed up in the 2nd tier when you are competing against clubs who get 30,000+ every week.[/quote]
Unlikely as it may seem, I’m growing to like you, but I think you’re wrong here.
The amounts are irrelevant. It’s what you do with it. So so many clubs have found that throwing money at “big name” players on “big name” wages does not provide success.
I think (genuinely) we will do well. Maybe not walk it, maybe it’ll take a few seasons, but I’m not bothered about other clubs having loadsamoney.
Is this the new thread. Wonder if this one will last 3 seasons.Well every man and his dog seems more bothered about another club’s manager rather than our own success story ……….
Another absolutely fabulous decision by this fantastic club of ours.
The top brass at our club are really excelling themselves in making our club the most forward thinking club in the country.
David Sharpe has continued his Grandads hard work and has moved us on to another level off the pitch and hopefully in the long run on the pitch.
Credit to everyone involved. We seem to be making decisions quickly, which is usually the best way. Decisions made can be tweaked, dithering causes distraction.
Appointing Gary, clearing out ALL the deadwood, sorting out season ticket prices before August 1, making an instant decision to relay the pitch, organising beambacks quickly, and so on.
We’re in danger of becoming a club that knows what it’s doing :)
I think this post and Bobby’s days are numbered.
Don’t think it will make it’s third birthday. It will be a shame and I will acknowledge my role in letting it die out by not posting on it. I do so with regret.
But que sera sera.
Why don’t the rest of you join us in not posting on here again its great. Watched the game tonight and Everton were embarrassing. Gone before the end of the season.Glad to see that there’s still a high number not posting on this (now tedious) thread.
Join us in not posting.Red for a DAGSO is a one match suspension.
It’s three for a dangerous foul.
So he can be back on Saturday.Check out this (you’ll need to filter to League One)
http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/suspensionsHe is no longer on the suspended list
Interesting to see other teams’ views on who the title is going to

Why all this negativity after just one bad result FFS. :huh:You always get unexpected results at this time of the season. That’s why the play offs were introduced, 8 or 9 teams in each division can still go up, stay up, or get relegated. They are all fighting for their lives, remember the Sheff Utd and Stoke games?
If you start to ponder and dwell on one game, you will have a nervous breakdown.
However having said that, even though the coaches are only leaving at 4:30pm and my office is less than 50 yards from the pick up point, I have had to take a day off work and have had butterflies since 7.30 this morning. This is turning into the longest day of my life. :woohoo:What coach are you on, JR?
According to my calculations if we beat Burton then the position will be
Wigan 83
Burton 77,
Walsall 77 (giving them the win in the game in hand)
Bradford 74Roll on then to Saturday, and assuming Burton win and Walsall beat Bradford (the most threatening result for us) then we have with two games to go
Burton on 80
Walsall 80
and Bradford out of the running on 74So if we then win on Saturday at home to Southend that will push us to 86. With our goal difference BOTH Burton and Walsall cannot catch us (barring some sort of huge match fixing scandal), even if we lose both to Blackpool and Barnsley.
A win tonight will make promotion pretty well assured. A win in any of our last three games would be enough (or even three draws!), and that is with Burton and Walsall winning all as well.
Is not singing yet with shit results like that. More points thrown away against rubbing rags.
Five points alone dropped against Doncaster.
Look over your shoulder Gary. A Tuesday win essential now after this pathetic result today.FFS. Have you looked at the table and worked out the probabilities.
Yes – it was a poor result today, and no, promotion is not guaranteed.
But if you asked me to lay a bet at the moment I know what bet I’d put down.
Those “rubbing rags” are fighting for their lives – remember the days in teh PL when that was the big clubs’ attitude about us. Remember how it felt. I’d rather that we lost today than Tuesday.
We’ll bounce back, but if the only thing you have to say is major criticism after a 20+ unbeaten run finally comes to an end then ……
“Sunderland chairman Ellis Short has hit back at criticism of his stewardship of the club and a claim that he has been ‘lying’ to supporters.
Sections of the home crowd chanted ‘Are you watching, Ellis Short?’ during last Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat by Norwich,…..”I accept that the majority of Sunderland fans get behind the team, but I’m not really sure they are behind the owner. But I may be wrong (I usually am :) )
And that was 2005. The last time you won at the JJB/DW was 2013. But we have also won in the interim in the Premier League, so it’s a bit selective just to choose the Championship game. :)
Mutty – it was your use of the words “shift across”, rather than “change stands” that confused me. Across implies a sideways motion, or a shuffling up.
But, still, “shift across to make room for the visiting fans, rather like the last time we last visited”. Nobody moved last time. That was the away stand. It was changed the following season. -
