Out of contract in the Summer and many will leave their clubs on a free so why not offer their respective clubs some dosh now ! Distin perhaps ? Or how about bringing back Bramble ?
21 January 2013 at 10:26 pm #100868WIGAN: Maynor Figueroa, Callum McManaman, Franco Di Santo, Albert Crusat, Piscu, Mike Pollitt, Ronnie Stam, David Jones, Emmerson Boyce, Antolin Alcaraz.

I bet there will be a few contract clauses as well for those still in contract should we go down !
21 January 2013 at 10:34 pm #100871chatting to colin greenall last week,he looks after himself fitness wise, how about making him a cheeky offer
21 January 2013 at 10:48 pm #100872In defence , Colin Methven still looks better then what we have and up front Stewart Barlow still knows where the goals are !
21 January 2013 at 11:07 pm #100874Do you want me to nip into Heinz and ask Peter Houghton will he dust off his boots.
22 January 2013 at 1:27 pm #100907If it’s 100% correct that list is scary. We have (probably) the smallest squad in the league with 10 players contracts due to expire in the summer. That’s the most our of all premier league teams according to that list with Fulham and WBA having 9.
As for possible targets, 3 names stand out for me as being realistic and affordable.
1. Danny Simpson – Newcastle. RWB position filled as he’s been pushed out of the Newcastle team now.
2. Chris Baird – Fulham. Versitile and not used all the time at Fulham. Has a good shot on him too, scores from free kicks and whips in killer balls.
3. Jason Puncheon – Southampton. He’s been awesome for them recently and we are desperate for a left footed winger. Hasn’t always lived up to his potential and think he had some off the field problems but that looks to be behind him now. He’s been on loan to Blackpool previously so no stranger to life in the north.

By strange coincidence, they are exactly the three I picked out too.
Out of the three, if I had to choose one, I’d go for Baird.
22 January 2013 at 2:35 pm #100909Watching Saturday’s MOTD* last night the commentator in the West Brom game said that Graham Dorrans was transfer-listed.
he scored a panful in my Dream league team a few yHars ago, Championship mind. Not a bad option, though.
* Lawro seemed very pleased with his “Wigan don’t start playing until the clock’s go forward” jibe, wasn’t he?

Yep, same here – I clocked the same three. Also, Brunt at WBA?
Not a world beater but I’ve always thought he was a decent player.Would tick the old “left footed winger” box.. plus he’s got a cracking shot on him!
22 January 2013 at 2:54 pm #100911I like Danny Simpson he is a Salford lad too but rumour is he wanted 30K + from Newcastle which they were unwilling to pay which I am unsure if it would fit into our wage structure…
I also beleive he wants to move to London so he can be with Tulisia… (I would).

Wasn’t he being linked with a move to a pretty big Italian club recently?
Lazio rings a bell..

I heard that too and agree with you completely BUT I’m not sure centre mid is the position we really need to strengthen. Attack, wing and defence for me are the real worries. We look like we’re missing Kone (even more than I thought). Also, we lack width in attack. Yes, we have wing backs but no real pace on the wings when attacking. Something Moses and N’Zogbia gave us.
22 January 2013 at 3:14 pm #100916Lawro was right though was he not ?
22 January 2013 at 4:11 pm #100920He said it for a laugh.
Can’t take somebody as gay as him seriously.
His favourite quote about Wigan is:
“They’re not just inconsistent from game to game but in games”
