I agree.
Most are very un-witty and dreamed up by the people who buy in to, and worship the ‘Soccer AM’ side of the game.
However, the ‘Manure’ one does have very sinister and sick undertones. It originated from 1958 and was started by West Brom fans when they played Man Utd at Old Trafford mere weeks after the Munich Air Disaster. They actually sang a sick song about ‘Manure…Duncan Edwards turning to manure in his grave’. (a play on the term Man U which was in its infancy then, but had been used in the press)
Very bad taste and not nice at all, especially considering Edwards came from Dudley, close to West Bromwich, and his dad actually supported Albion.
Very different times…but obviously there were still some parasites about back then.
