It looks like he is turning it around in his first season with hull, very under rated manager in my humble opinion.

Once he’s spent all their money.

In amongst all this Bruce love-in that’s going on, people have realised that they’re only in the Championship, right?

I suspect you said the first line to get a rise out of somebody so I’ll bite ;)
Steve Bruce spent money at Wigan Athletic that Dave Whelan said he could spend. Nothing more. The reason Bobby operates on a much lower budget isn’t the fault of Steve Bruce but because Dave Whelan decided to change it

I never said it was his fault. But, he also decided to leave because he didn’t want to operate under those constraints.

It is his fault that I had a crick in my neck for 18 months – but I know you won’t agree with that, either. ;)

Not so sure he is under rated? His record in the prem isn’t brilliant. If he gets Hull up to the prem and sticks with them more importantly, then he may prove me wrong?

I’ve watched Latic since 1986 and the only time I have fell asleep at a match was during Bruce’s second spell in charge of us. And no, I hadn’t had a drink. I was totally sober. It was THAT bad.

It was a tongue in cheek remark ABL in response to Griff’s tongue in cheek remark that Bruce’s team played long ball stuff. It’s as incorrect as those who accuse Bobby’s style of being boring when the truth is that when it works & works well any style of football is entertaining
For the record I’ve never fallen asleep at any game but there was a kid in front of me at deepdale once who was fast asleep all through Stuart barlow’s hat-trick there!!!

I keep getting an itch to dive on this thread and put forward (once again) why I believe Bruce was a rubbish manager for us.

But I really CBA so I would like to register it was my intent to do so.

Bruce joined the club with a remit to keep the club in the premier league.
so he changed the style of play to high intensity using Valencia to chase down the ball and win free kicks and corners. This change had an immediate impact on results and we avoided relegation with a game to spare.I dont remember many people moaning back then and even less in 2008-9 when the team moved to the next level despite a fire sale in the january window and he achieved a comfortable finish with no relegation battle.
He made some very bad signings in my view and this seems to be his major weakness but you cannot argue about the way he sets up teams and I have some good memories of his time at Latics.
He made a mistake going across to Harrods sorry Blunderland and I wonder if he regrets leaving Latics as I’m sure he would have kept us up each year like Martinez has done.He is a good manager iand he will always have work with his record but it will always be at unfashionable clubs with low expectations rather than ones with delusions like Blunderland.
I hope he gets Hull up as nothing could be more boring than a club like Watford or Palace getting promoted.
