In the wake of Kone’s double on Sunday do you think he will start on Saturday ? Will Di Santo be on the bench ? Will he start with both perhaps and use Henriquez should either of the other two to start to flag ? If we can get a bit of a cushion then he wouldn’t be needed and we could maybe shore things up at the back ? I would like to see both the main strikers start with Maloney playing a free roll just behind them to create chances. Discuss !

There’s something seriously wrong if Kone doesn’t start.
In terms of our “out-and-out strikers”, he is by far the most dangerous.
I don’t see why he wouldn’t start his best striker..?
Then again.. stranger things have happened.
22 February 2013 at 2:44 pm #103845Yes Kone will start and yes, I would imagine Di Santo will too.
Before the African Nations started we had a front 3 of Franco, Kone and Maloney. I would expect that to remain the same now Kone’s back.
22 February 2013 at 5:48 pm #103874I expect Martinez to start with his nominal first team;
Al Habsi
Scharner Caldwell Figueroa
Boyce McArthur McCarthy Beausejour
Di Santo Kone MaloneyBut he does – for once – have some real choice with Alcaraz, Golobart, Lopez, Jones, Espinoza, McManaman, Miyaichi, Gomez and Henriquez all available for selection.
Here’s hoping that Wigan’s luck has turned and that they come home with all three points. Anything else is unthinkable.
22 February 2013 at 7:55 pm #103878Yip Dougie it looks about reet.
23 February 2013 at 12:30 am #103882We have done well against the other relegation battlers this season in terms of points gained and we are due a win in the Premier league.
Think we will get it tomorrow and then follow it up with a shock win against the scousers a week on Saturday.
I haven’t been drinking honest! B)23 February 2013 at 4:46 am #103894Yes Kone will start and yes, I would imagine Di Santo will too. Before the African Nations started we had a front 3 of Franco, Kone and Maloney. I would expect that to remain the same now Kone’s back.
Agreed – though I still don’t get why Bob didn’t play another striker in place of Kone while he was away.
I think the fact that the FA Cup game finished with most of our first team on the pitch is telling too.
23 February 2013 at 2:22 pm #103898Martinez has got to start Callum McManaman today!!!
23 February 2013 at 4:02 pm #103900Good points

Le Fondre needs one more goal as a substitute to set a new Premier League record for a single seasonThere’s every chance of a good result today. 2-1 to Wigan!
23 February 2013 at 7:57 pm #103910Half time; Reading 0 Wigan 2 (Kone 2)
And, to make it even better, Arsenal 1 Aston Villa 0Martinez has relied on his usual first team, who have had the better of the first half. With two goals from Kone late in the half, they have gone in two up.
23 February 2013 at 8:12 pm #103911And to think Thirtyodd years latic said playing front 2 with Maloney in a free roll behind them wouldn’t happen !
23 February 2013 at 8:18 pm #103912Now 0-3 up, Reading down to 10 men. Arsenal 1-0 up against Villa that should see us out of the relegation zone tonight
23 February 2013 at 8:41 pm #103915ALCARAZ IS ALIVE!!!!!!!
23 February 2013 at 9:00 pm #103916Excellent performance from Wigan team collectively and individually – except perhaps Al Habsi who had nothing to do!
Good saves from Federici saved Reading from a heavier defeat. Wigan go above Villa on goal difference.
Bring on Liverpool!
