I think we can agree that nerves are going to be tested. Is it better to sit through games where the results really matter than to experience the relative calm of a mid-table position? Perhaps it is.
It’s so close at the bottom, but Wigan have every chance of survival. They have a modest advantage over their rivals – they are fourth from the bottom (just), in good form and have a squad close to full strength. They have also been in the relegation battle before.
There are still five games to be played between the bottom four teams. Teams will pick up points in these games, so I expect them to be crucial. Can you imagine it going down to the last day against Villa?  
I’m pleased with the cup run, but hope it doesn’t damage the league results. Postponed fixtures can lead to extra pressures on the team. But yes, I would gratefully accept a win at Everton.
