We all remember what happened the last time Wigan Athletic took on Tottenham Hotspur and so revenge is very much on the cards for Roberto Martinez as well as restoring a bit of pride.
Spurs make their way to the DW Stadium on Sunday knowing that they could get a backlash for the 9-1 drumming they handed us at White Hart Lane earlier this season.
The irony about Redknapp’s team at the moment is that they are struggling for goals, whilst Latics are waiting for that game where it will all click together and we see that hammering reversed.
It might not come against the visitors this weekend, but another good performance could see us go one better than the three draws we have somehow ended up with lately.
Tottenham themselves have been drawing a lot in recent games, coinciding with losing the services of Aaron Lennon, the quick midfielder seems to be losing his race against time to be fit for the game against us.
Jermaine Jenas will have a late fitness test whilst Ledley King will probably be rested, Cudicini and Woodgate are long term injuries and will probably not play again this season, never mind this game.
Bobby looks like he will have to do without the ever present Titus Bramble as he tries to shake off a hamstring injury he picked up in the tough game against Bolton in midweek.
Latics have had bad results in recent games in the sense that we should have won 3 of the last 4 but have seen us come out with just 3 points. Our home games are key to us having Premier League football here next season and although on paper we are the underdogs in this one, we really do have a chance to gain all the points on Sunday.
The pitch will play a big part in this result, the relaying of it will not help us one iota this season and so we are going to have to get a system that works on it and quick.
Latics have only won once in eleven and if you’re a betting man you will probably not bet against that, but I reckon there is enough pride and passion to see us winning this on Sunday so have a bit of faith and lets cheer the boys on.
The referee will be Alan Wiley to oversee this 2-1 home win
