Rugby League World Cup schedule has now been produced and shows the stunning arenas that will be packed out for this feast of ruggerby league.
My “must watch” will be the Bonfire Night Bonanza between Tonga and the Cook Islands on our doorstep at Leigh Sports Village. I might also be tempted by Scotland v Italy at Derwent Park, Workington.
But for me the highlight is that the semi-finals will be played on the same day at Wembley in a double-header.
“Well – when England rugby go to Wembley they take a few thousand. But when we go with Wigan Athletic we take over 20,000. In organising the World Cup they’ve done very well, it’s a nice little tournament, and they’ve almost dome everything right; but they’ve chosen to do it in the middle of the football season”.

27 April 2013 at 2:22 pm #111090played in front of a less crowd than us v millwallThat being the lowest crowd to attend an FA Cup Semi-Final at the new Wembley.
Hows the ticket sales for the final going? Sold out yet?

nearly my little chubster….and we don’t need 20 other clubs fans to boost the final attendance with tickets on sale all year…a la silk cut m62 cup!!!!
our semi had a slightly bigger att than yours last season at hudds of 12k OUCH
Do you like all the billboards/bunting/posters/shop window displays/tv adverts/worldwide publicity coming to our so called rugby league town
who do you play on sunday????
27 April 2013 at 4:00 pm #111100Anonymous
you’d think that with us living in a so called “rugby league town”, you’d expect the rugby league team to be the most popular/most talked about/better supported and to be the bread winner for the town
funny how none of those apply to the rugby league team in a rugby league town??????
i look forward to seeing ANOTHER 11k (including away fans) for a rugby league match in a rugby league town……whenever and whoever they play next…..dying sport – no money – no interest – still no team in birmingham after over a century of trying – rented stadiums – no home of their own – cringe worthy ice hockey team names – no future – pointless league – no other european leagues of note – ticket deals for a WORLD CUP SEMI FINAL – light years behind proper rugby
BUT FORGET ALL THAT – you’ve got 4 players from platt waz in your team, that’s all that matters eh
27 April 2013 at 4:04 pm #111101I think you meant to say that you’d sold out of the cheap seats – there seem to be plenty of the more expensive ones available, and some blocks not even put on sale yet. I really hope this isn’t the first FA Cup final to not sell out – especially when the whole world is watching. Even bloody Wimbledon sold out in 1988!
Good luck today against Spuds!

28 April 2013 at 12:01 pm #11115922.5k for a london side with database enforced………no bank holiday cheap tickets…….thought it was a rugby league town?????????So, you’ve sold nearly 20,000 tickets, and aspire to sell 25,000 but only 18,000 home fans turned up yesterday, and much less prior to the semi-final.
7,000+ potential bandwagon jumpers (if you manage to sell your tickets). What say you about that?

you can tell these bitter egg chubsters are rattled by our rise…….they just can’t accept that football in wigan has taken over……wurrier players leaving left/right/centre for a better standard of a league as the pointless one in this country is an embarrassment……..massive crowd on at salford sailor jacks yesterday on sky…HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
