Martinez gone, good luck but I’m glad he’s gone
28 May 2013 at 5:31 pm #114645We need to hire his replacement quick and get building for next season.
28 May 2013 at 5:32 pm #114646If they can retain Jones, he would be my choice.
28 May 2013 at 5:40 pm #114652Let them all go and get a new lot in. He’s an utter w@nker, fighting relegation since he came no impovement whats so ever, jumps ship for patures new. He should of given it another season as should all the players.

28 May 2013 at 5:47 pm #114657Roberto Di Matteo please Davey baby
28 May 2013 at 5:49 pm #114662Jamie Carragher for me and start defending again !!.
28 May 2013 at 5:53 pm #114665I’ll hold comment until the reasons for him leaving are made known. Maybe Whelan couldn’t delivery what Martinez wanted that would make him stay.
28 May 2013 at 5:55 pm #114668what is more worrying is what did bob ask whelan for to stay at the club and worst is did whelan actually say no to his terms
bloody hell sammy tha beat me to it :lol:28 May 2013 at 5:57 pm #114669Come on boys and girls Bobby did is best to pull a good team together under financial constraints that no other premier league team had. OK he got us relegated but leaves us with a legacy that includes;
1) We have won a major trophy.
2) We have shown on many occasions that we can beat all the top four teams.
3) The good people of Wigan will support their football team if they play the right way, even though they are in a relegation fight.
Thanks for the memories bobby, if you do go to Everton though I hope you get relegated! B)
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!28 May 2013 at 6:00 pm #114670Mixed feelings. Ill always love Bobby for what he did for us and the loyalty he showed. The cup win aside i felt last season we had run out of ideas and we looked for the majority of games like a relegation team which struggled to score goals or defend. Ive always been amazed given our results under him that he finds himself in such demand but good luck to the guy. If he can orchestrate a move to a top 6 team on the back of taking a team down hes a better man than most. He will always be a club legend and i wouldnt be surprised if he came back one day.
28 May 2013 at 7:30 pm #114732– N Adkins (under contract, so probably no chance)
– R Di Matteo (mixed success at WBA)
– G Neville (untried, talks a lot of sense on TV)
– G Jones (Everton exit?)
– D Ferguson (DW bosom buddies with SAF, Darren – mixed success at Posh, PNE balls-up)
– G Poyet (suspended by Brighton)
– P Neville (player-manager)Preference: Phil Neville (player-manager) or Gus Poyet
28 May 2013 at 7:46 pm #114735Mixed feelings too, but definitely more on the annoyed and disappointed side of the fence. He has left us with a lot of unfinished business and should have at least had the decency to try and put right the wrongs.
I also think that by staying in England and possibly stealing our players that he’ll be rubbing our faces in it…and I don’t think any new manager will have the same ambition to build on his foundations.
He said himself that the club is in an excellent position for a promotion campaign – I wonder then if he’ll have the decency leave our players alone and not subject himself to the same “Judas” jeers he got from Swansea. Somehow I doubt it.
28 May 2013 at 8:35 pm #114749The last manager that left us saying he’d taken us as far as he could was Paul Jewel, not exactly improved his cv since, big mistake Roberto, Everton won’t put up with losing 7/8 in a row

if you look at it on the whole we won 38 Prem games out of a possible 152 matches. So in theory I’ve watched us not win for 3 seasons…
that make sense ??. -
