I am being neither disloyal nor misogynistic when I say I am pleased the Women’s team have failed miserably in the Euros.
Success would have once again papered over the cracks that are the total lack of lower level support and development in this country in both the men’s and the women’s games, caused by the fixation on the Premier League and lack of investment by the FA in grassroots football.
As it is we are shown up to be falling rapidly behind most countries in Europe, and a fair number in the world at all levels. The Press and the casual football supporters still get hyped up about whether Chelsea or Man United will win this week or next, while small clubs are going to the ground, and financial support is being reduced in lower levels.
Rant over.
19 July 2013 at 12:07 pm #118011I’m afraid the lack of replies is probably due to people flicking through dictionaries to work out what misogynistic means.
And, in some cases (Tony the Wiganmon), asking his mum what a dictionary is.
19 July 2013 at 1:09 pm #118015I had to ask the Mrs what misogynistic meant. The thick, f’cking cow didn’t know as usual.

I have to say that I disagree slightly – The FA has thrown an inordinate amount of money into the women’s game in recent years in order to get this WSL off the ground & IMO they might as well have thrown it straight down the drain. By all means encourage participation in the sport from garass roots level upwards but to chuck money into something to make it a professional league when the level of interest & support isn’t there (& is unlikely to ever be there) in the name of looking politically correct is a waste of time when grass roots football (at all levels & played by all sexes) is crying out for investment
19 July 2013 at 1:56 pm #118019That’s pretty well what I was ham-fistedly trying to say, TL.
It’s at grassroots level that support is needed – not PL or in fact WSL. Look at what they have done to Doncaster Belles – ignoring one of the major pioneering women’s clubs at the expense of City.
19 July 2013 at 2:35 pm #118022Add to that the total ineptitude shown by the U21s and U20s this summer in their tournaments and there does indeed seem to be something rotten in the state of Denmark aka the FA, but we all know the only football in this country started when the Premier League (spit) began.
As for the women’s team, it’s breathtaking just how far behind they’ve fallen in such a relatively space of time. I blame it on all this tippy-tappy football they play.
19 July 2013 at 2:53 pm #118023Womens football is rubbish and the BBC are just pampering to the feminists in a futile bid to repair their damaged image ! I am not a sexist in any way whatsoever but women are not very good at football ! The England womens football team would get beat by most Sunday league sides round here in my opinion and so why show it on BBC tv !

To be fair, I much prefer titty-tappy football.
